I guess so.

I could do Black Bear on my 990 Adventure, but I'd rather take the 450 every time.

FMF Powerbomb Header Heat Shield-

The heat shield standoffs are attached to the header with stainless steel hose clamps-

The heat shield installed with allen head screws -

I will be adding stainless lock washers to the screws -

Question Acerbis 4.1G Tank with Scott Damper

Hi Hondo,

Loving this thread as I am a big fan of the 2008 KLX450R.

Your bike is the first '08 KLX450R which has both a Acerbis 4.1G Tank and Scotts Steering Damper (underbar mounted), I have seen anywhere. I have been toying with buying the same tank for a while, but on the Just Tanks website they state it may not fit with some stabilzers. I asked JT with specifics and they did not know. Obviously, yours works, so do mind advising me if there was anything special you had to do to make it fit, or did it fit no problem? I live in the UAE, so its not so simple to return the tank if I get it wrong. Appreciate any help and insight.

I used the Scotts under the bar mount and the tab for the mount fits against the frame where the fuel tank upper mount tab rests.

I just sat the tank on the tab and attached the tank using a bolt & washer.

Perfect. I think I will make that leap of faith then. Many thanks, and good luck with the build!

Status report-

I took the KLX450R to New Mexico for a weekend of rocky trail riding and it just flat out shined.

There is a dedicated KLX450R thread in Thumpers already, and I posted a link to this thread in it.
