While the "Plywood Palace Tavern" may not be an artistic vintage structure, it does on occasion open, with $1 can beer and the option of the outback fenceline and bush as the restroom facility !

Ran across this abandoned place while riding thru the woods this afternoon. I am guessing it was built in the late 1700s or early 1800s from the style. Despite the fact that the place had electricity at one time, there was no driveway from the road up to the house.

Interesting, a house from that period not having a porch.

sad to see no life in it. make you wonder about the stories it holds.

Actually, that one wasn't nearly as creepy as this one, which did have someone living in it - along with lots of large, dead plants in the windows.

Many, if not most early, colonial, New England homes did not have porches.

Yes, if the walls could only talk. Sometimes you can get information from the local historical society, where one exists. Another source of information is the American Antiquarian Society. Then there's always local folklore. Fun is stopping at out-of-the-way places and chatting up the locals about old abandoned places and their stories. Some of our best rides got started by talking to locals in little places like this (i.e., where the locals go):

I posted this in the "DR650 Picture" thread also, but this is definitely an old structure. Believe it or not, this railroad trestle is still in use!
