Oxford sport grips

How much of the end can i cut off? Instructions say only to the little indent. Can i go more?

From what I have read, the older model would go from 4.9" to 4.75", I think just to the first groove.

The newer ('12 or '13) model allows you to cut them down from 4.84" to 4.48", looks like to where the grip starts to get bigger.
