There is now a small system update out that does something to the time zone database.

I was using my Montana this week and driving from one time zone to another and it showed the ETA based on the time zone I started the trip from vs. the time of arrival in the time zone I was going to. When I crossed the time line the ETA then revised to the time zone I was traveling to.

This is different than my nuvi as it has always displayed the time of arrival for the time zone you are arriving at from the very first. Maybe this update addresses this issue...

I assume this is new feature on all new generation units. It is settable (fixed or Auto) in setup on my 78.

What firmware version are you running, and what is the kb size of the gmaptz.img in your Montana\Garmin\ directory?

OTOH I'm not so inclined to do it if there's not enough interest in collecting data. Partly because I know there are others that just want the discussion to "go away"!

Maybe we should just have a unique thread for each user, where they can control the subject matter to meet only their desires, sparing them from opinions and conversation that is not their own?

Or, you could just start a twitter account and only read your own feed.....

I really don't care how much negative stuff you post about the Montana.

Calling it floptana over and over again just makes you look like a knob.

That's rich, coming from the sole contributor/owner of the Montana Wiki.

For me, the egg here is the data (silly cliche, the egg came first). If I get enough data, I start thread..... Mebbe those that want a new thread the most should be the ones providing the most data.

I agree, calling it floptana is like someone calling you an arsehole without even knowing you. It's not very constructive.

So on the new unit Garmin sent me, the OS is 4.7 and seems to work well. Is there any reason to upgrade to the latest OS?

Sole Editor.
