Thanks, Bill
:) All of the BDR's are on my bucket list....and I will do 1 major ride (2-3 weeks) a year. I was going to go either Arctic Circle, or South America in 2014 , but then this idea sprung...and I am going with it! I wouldn't pass up a chance to ride with 20 or more guys...it will be incredibly cool.

I can't wait till they get the MTBDR out...I was in Missoula, now I am up in Kalispell...only 1/2 hour from Glacier Park.

The MTBDR and WYBDR are still just a though in our heads.
IDBDR happens in 2015...only 1 BDR per year as it's $$$ to create these.

The video of the COBDR provides a good perspective on the route ... not to mention the Oscar-winning performance of the first KLR to ride the route.

Photo below, by moto photographer Jonathan Beck, is from the inaugural run of the route with Butler Motorcycle Maps and Touratech USA:

Very cool!!

I am yet to see CO--who knows, if things line up I may join. There was an article in the Motorcyclist Magazine issue I got today in the mail, interesting read.

The 2014 RMAR should be starting at the end of July, maybe start this ride as the RMAR ends? That way asylum bound inmates could do both.

Will join your BF page this evening when I get home.
This looks like something I could get into. Been wanting to do something like this. Hopefully the "Bean" my old green KLR, will be up to the task.

A friend of mine (not an ADV member yet) and I would like to join your ride. We're not on facebook so I'll also send you an email.

Looking forward to it already.

So far it looks like about 20 people or so. Also some from the group and others are donating for a rider from Sweden to make it to the event even.

I'll be riding from the NW of Washington to Colorado. Can't wait.

Two more possibles

My aged friend and myself have ridden the Great Divide Route, the Transamerica Trail, and parts of this COBDR. I have a vacation home in Eagle Nest, NM from which we will depart. Hopefully our busy retirement schedules will allow us to participate in another Colorado adventure. I know planning is a fun part of a trip, but it is a long time till July!

Being the "aged friend", I think I'm obligated to respond, since TEXASELVIS is 3 years older than me. We started riding together in "72 with 7 or 8 others, and sadly we are the only ones left riding. Thanks for doing this and we are looking forward to making your ride and another CO adventure. Sorry, don't have a KLR anymore, but I'll try to keep up on my old Transalp.

For what it's worth... The weather MIGHT be better (less rain) in late August or early September right after school starts and most of the vacationers are gone. Better weather and fewer people. Early spring to mid summer can be cool and wet/muddy from spring run off and CO "monsoon". Mid/late October into November brings cooler temps and snow chances. Afternoon showers and/or sleet/cornsnow is possible ANYTIME in the upper elevations, but in general, the weather is good (with the exception of last years floods). Maybe some of you CO guys can chime in on what you think is the best time of year.

This is a great idea for "bundling" some fabulous riding all together. You could start the COBDR up to the Silverton area, take a break for a couple or three days for the RMAR Rendezvous, and then continue on with the BDR as you work north.

Sounds awesome to me.......heck, I might even join in on that (thanks for extending the invite to non-KLX owners)......The RMAR event is July 31 thru August 3rd. And they are planning a pre-event leading up to the 31st. Awesome time in and around Silverton with 200+ like minded riders on all kinds of bikes!

You are most likely falling into the monsoon season of afternoon showers or more, but it is an awesome time of year to be out there no matter what.

***well, clearly John was typing as I was, so you get the info twice!****
