I don't want to sound like an ass but in most cases if there was no contact with the other vehicle no charges are filed, even if they ran a light. Also ,good luck with their ins co .for the exact same reason. What would stop everyone who goes down from blaming it on someone else and filing an ins claim against them?

7 witnesses, two other bikers were almost hit. Cage and pedestrian witnesses. Video from officer shows "left turner" shouting "I am so sorry, I did it, I turned in front of her..."

Adjuster came over; we will hear soon.

Any word on the infection? This really sucks. I dont get how some people can ABANDON other people in such times, especially when youre talking about life-threatening injuries.

I spoke to my Triumph rider friend last week (Friday). He is resting, working out hard and the infection seems to be subsiding. He said he saw his x-rays for the first time and asked "...who is the amateur carpenter?" I love the guy. In the face of adversity, he sees the humor in in all.

He is determined, too, to get back on two wheels.

As for the bride... the insurance company offered a little over $2k for her pristine Triumph TT Legend and totalled it. $1500 if she wanted to keep it.

I'm talking to the weasels tomorrow. I have searched comparables. Higher mileage, they go from $3500 to 5k.

Nothing about a toasted Aria Signet less than 7 months old and her scuffed Aerostich.

The adjustor who came out was a Harley dood who went on and on about his rides with the Shriners. Right...

The fight begins in earnest at 0900. I'm off until Wednesday. I have plenty of time and an iron will. They can give us enough to fix it or replace it.

The game commences with the insurance weasels in wife's face plant caused by a left turner.

Originally the "take it or leave it" was $2499. Now we are at just under $4000. With no salvage title too.

It is a game. Funny, I am not laughing when I play.

I have played that game with the insurance companies too. Makes me angry just thinking about it. If I ever have another accident I am going to hire a lawyer and let the law shark deal with the insurance company. I don't think you can come out the other side of an accident whole without doing this. Take a look at the history of insurance companies in general. Not what we have today for sure. They were originally chartered to protect us, not screw us.

Doug... thanks for the kind words.

Yes, they are supposed to protect us. I was emphatic when talking with him that 1) we were the aggrieved partry, 2) we did NOT cause the accident and 3) she is still has a sore hip 2 months later.

I am letting him stew on it. We are $500 apart.

Friday (nearly 90 days after the accident) I am going to ask him to "split the difference". If he will oblige, we are done.

Looks like it has finally been settled from a "take it or leave it" for less than $2k to $4300 to keep the bike, clear title. Enough to fix it, replace the toasted Aria helmet and cover whatever else.

Dealing with insurance adjusters if you are on the aggrieved parties side, remember to NEVER agree to payment until you get exactly what you deserve to make the bike and rider whole again.

It is a f#cking game, but if you don't play, you at their mercy.

Screw 'em as much as you can.

She Who Must Be Obeyed (SWMBO) got her insurance check Christmas Eve. $4.2k and some change.

Happily it will cover repair of her 1999 Triumph Legend TT (that was pristine prior to stupid ass left hand turner) and a new Aria helmet to replaced the toasted one - and new Held gloves.

The Bonnie rider, my friend who lost his left leg, is facing the daily battles. 4am stuff that no one in their right mind would want to venture.

He is determined to ride again. First order of business is to get his shattered right leg healed up and able to carry his load.

Happily, he hasn't gained or lost a pound since the accident. He is not laying around eating bon bons and feeling sorry for his self. I hope to be there the first day he rides again.

That day cannot come soon enough, but it will take time, effort and just a touch of grace.

Good show. Things turned/are turning out as well as they could given the circumstances.
