Even smaller when you fly the real Blackbird, you could arrive at your destination before the time you departed, it seems to bend time continuum.

time to bump this thread up again. Bought myself a 97 the other day, cleaning polishing and new rear tire. Had an 03 before and sold it, stupidist move on a motorcycle I ever made. I love this bike, for smooth all day long distance cruising it can't be beat, used to spend 12 to 14 hrs a day in the saddle with no problems and for the occasional time you open it up it sure makes your heart beat faster with it's smooth seamless power. I still love it and am now 66 years of age.

Yes indeed. Bought mine new in 2002. Now has 95,000 miles and runs as new. Great bike. It's a keeper.

Somehow I've missed this thread...
But great reading.

I bought my 02 XX on June 25 2013 and already have 8,000 miles on her.

My best mpg have been 52 on a 2200 mile round trip in 14 days. I loved every moment on this bike.

I bought this because selling my 02 XR650L a few years back was a mistake. While I did two 1500 mile trips on that the lack of mpg, speed, fairings and luggage bothered me.
The XX has been on my mind since they came out and now I couldn't be happier owing one.

I don't think I'll be selling it any time soon... even though I have add when it comes to vehicles.

I have a different take on the XX if anyone is interested in one of these.

I put 60K on my '02 and loved every single second of it AFTER I upgraded the suspension, seat, windscreen etc... Then after 11 great years I sold it an never looked back. I've owned an FJR AE and now a 919, both of which I like more than the XX. Strange how much I loved it at the time and it was the perfect bike for me but now that it's gone I'm so glad I sold it to experience other bikes.

So, basically it's the only keeper I'll ever own that I wish I hadn't kept for so long if that makes any sense whatsoever. ANYONE looking at a sub 4K ST mount should be looking at nothing else and there are a lot of nice ones out there with low miles. Just remember it needs lots of mods to live up to it's full potential, but I guess you could say that about any bike. My Dad actually had one first and pretty much felt the exact same way except only had his for 5 years.

What gave you the good idea I'm a good rider? And how would you know anyway you never touched the suspension.

CBR1100XX Blackbird.....Tell me about it

I'm looking at one locally with around 40000 miles for cheap (less than 2K). Owner says it has new tires, chain, sprockets and corbin gunfighter. No issues, clean title.

I go to look at it on Thursday. I'm bringing the voltmeter to check the R/R but is there anything else on these beasts that are prone to premature wear?

I don't need another bike but I think I should jump on this.

For that price, I'd buy it in a heartbeat!

From the research I've done on these they seem to be reliable and run a long, long time. If it looks like it was taken care off......Buy it.

Extremely reliable bike. Only weak points are the R/R (voltmeter a good idea!), the generator coils and the cam chain tensioner. For the last one pay attention to the typical noise of a bad tensioner.

I got a smokin deal on one this summer. It is a wonderful bike. If there's not any glaring issues, grab it.

Is the owner in some sort of financial bind?

The cam chain tensioner does wear out. Easy and very affordable fix.
I bought my XX this past June and couldn't be happier.

Why aren't you reading the Blackbird thread?

Went to both the thread and the site, of course after I posted I got smart and used the search button.

Thanks for the input though.
