I had a related experience while riding on a remote winter road North of my home. I met two Quadders with rifles who hightailed it into the bush. It was not any where near hunting season. I also wondered how much I looked like a police man in my full riding gear and loaded up bike!! Of course that may not be the image one wants to project in a third world country!

I was going for this look ... Jon & Ponch from CHiPs - Just need to try & get KLiM to make a Adventure jacket that looks like a Khaki short sleeved shirt with a white t-shirt underneath.

In the summer I commute with my Badlands jacket open and fastened at the top so you can see my shirt underneath. On two separate occasions at a gas stop I was asked if I was a bike cop. I have a military haircut and had on a blue shirt with a black tie. I got home after the first time and realized how a layperson could make that mistake. After the second time, I avoided wearing those clothes.

Hi Walter I remember near the start of the thread you had mentioned something about how you would like to make the trail available to the public... I must have missed you final thoughts on this . So my Q is how will it be available ? Sorry if this has already been said.
A bit of an unusual Q but what handlebar grips are you guys using to give enough comfort and still last such a long trail?

Yes I will make it available, but my current view is that the trail should be purchased from me direct. We had some issues last year when I gave it to testers to try, and I would want to have a quick online chat with anyone using the trail to make sure they are adequately prepared mentally and in terms of the bike, for what they can expect.

If you are wanting to do the trail, PM me or email me and we can take it from there.

Anyone in England who wants to see 40 minutes of preview footage from the upcoming DVD version of this ride report, I have hastily thrown together some of the footage I have been working on for the DVD, some bits fully narrated, and some bits yet to be narrated, as Adventure-Spec is having a off road moto adventure film night in Hebden Bridge (W Yorkshire) this saturday night. Its actually a film preview night for two other films - Austin Vince's Mondo Sahara, northern UK premiere, and Graham Jarvis film - Erzberg the Hard Way.

Prior to the screening of those two main motorcycle films, and in the intermission between them, they will be showing the 40 minutes of selected clips from The Sibirsky Extreme Trail.

If you want to see Terry Brown wowing the locals in the discos with his dance moves, the beach thongs of Kiev, or Norwegians downing rum on the Vitim Bridge, your first view of it will be this Saturday night at Hebden Bridge Picture Theatre. This includes footage from the closed Chernobyl Exclusion zone, Ural Mountains, the stunning Altai AND about 20 minutes of great BAM Road and Road of Bones footage.

I was there! And will be again if your film gets aired in full sometime soon as they hinted, the taster was my highlight of the evening

Hi Walter,
Great journeys you have shared, so inspiring! I have looked at photos of your bike and would like to know what exhaust you have on it in 2012? Does not appear to be OEM.

Best regards,

Ha.

There are over 134 pages dedicated to this bike only, hosted by Sir Walter himself. I am only about 30 pages in, I don't own an X Challenge.

Touch base in a year after reading this thread.

I'm only on page 154 of this ridiculous RR but amongst all the amazing pictures of scenery I have seen, this is my favorite picture so far. Everybody loves a motorcycle.

What a trip! Great crew. Best RR ever, it caused me some nice sleepless nights already and also it gave my GF reason to complain...
Discovered it only recently but already made it almost to page 100. I just can't wait to read it all and the other RRs too! I got a XC last summer and now I know what to do.

So, Prutser, if you guys liked the Lada rallye so much, how about this one??
