Happy Festus!

Happy Festus! Sorry, the "US" fell off the sign. Think of it as "low rider holiday season artwork". I am beginning to enjoy color photography.
You never know what you are going to find when you head up the canyon to Jalcomulco.

This one is for Trice, black and white, he liked the eye on the iguana, check out el ojo here. Actually, be careful, you could loose an eye...

By the way, besides the little banzai run across the high plain on Friday night, this was the maiden voyage of the Mystery Rider's new KTM. He strongly urged me to post the following picture. Look carefully. That pick up needed a push start and was on an up hill. He simply put his front wheel to the pickup's bumper, let the clutch out, and got it rolling for a bump start. Go try that with your GS.

Nah, just messing with you. But I'll bet the look on Schizz's face was priceless! Couldn't resist that.

Happy Festus!

It has seen much better days...Most potholes I've seen on a allegedly paved road. Damn pretty tho.

Winter in the Elevations

This video isn't from Mexico, but it's a reminder what you can find in the elevations in Mexico, especially in the morning, often where water crosses the road and perhaps where shade delays the suns warming:

Be careful, ride safe, and keep your wits about you.

I was a day out of Mexico and unexpectedly rode into a blizzard between Scottsdale and Flagstaff. Pretty sobering stuff and that's about right - ice started forming under the overpasses and when I went into Flagstaff I saw a bank sign that read 28degrees and decided that it was time to call it a day.

Did that on MX16 a couple of years ago. The GS computer said it was 48F.

Glad you came out unscathed.

'Tis the season.

So, late starts as necessary when you're up around Creel and elsewhere.

One more ice warning, on a different bike:

Notice the shade

Ice Ice Baby

Escaping the cold:

Who else has plans on being in Mexico after Christmas and in January?

I know of Jimmex, Mark883, Schizzman heading for Durango then the Espinazo, 40D, and San Blas etc.

I'm running Baja, San Diego/Tecate to Cabo San Lucas, as an off-road rookie tagging along with a maniacal squad of insane sand roosting MX veterans.

Any other Mexico winter escapees out there?

I've seen that in the San Bo Mountains along the CA coast. Damn slick when the morning dew freezes. Luckily, no on fell that time but tip-toe conditions for a while.

I'll be in PV for a month, but not on bike. Wife doesn't ride, so we're taking big bird.
