Scarabeo 50 soon!

Ah, back into the scooter world.

I was a "caretaker" for a derestricted People 50 for a lawyer buddy for a couple years. One of his clients used it for payment with 0 miles.

I found it battleship chained behind his office one day. Over a beer or two we agreed that it needed better care. It was green from mold and just gritty from sitting outside.

Took it home. A couple hours on the charger and a bottle of Simple Green made it look showroom. New gas... It cranked right up. I rode it for a winter. Come spring, my mate wanted it back to commute to the court house.

A week later, gone. He forgot and left the key in the ignition. Dang.

So... No scooter. Until last week. A old friend of mine who once owned an Aprila dealership came to visit I loaned him money years ago to start the dealership. He said "hey, you want a Scarabeo? We used it as a pit bike racing and a for parts running at the dealership...."

Another buddy texted me...coming up from Florida to pick up an original Mini Panel wagon and wanted to spend the night... Texts flew back and forth - we are all old friends from the BMW world long ago.

It arrives tomorrow. Derestricted with pipe.

Yeah baby. Photos soon!

Unloaded it in the rain. Wiped her down after the journey from south Florida... looks good. All keys present. Hot pipe. Spare new tire.

Rolled it down the driveway with light braking on the sweeping left. No drama, great stopping power.

This is going to be fun. Big fun.

Started right up. No drama at all.

Just ordered an OEM girly looking top box. Whatever. I'm going to tape it's hind quarter up with 3M Reflective tape.

She's gonna be drug from doing pit bike duties to the hard life of the streets.

Looks like a fun bike. It's great when the world gets moved yet the right thing shakes out of it. Makes the fun all the funner.

What size are those wheels and are tires hard to find for it? They sure aren't 10's.

Methinks it is a dirty old two stroke, not a diatech.

As for the wheels, they are OEM 16'. Tires? Michelin, Pirelli and a host of UJS or USP makers.

I like the big wheel scooters, more like a motorcycle. Suits me, as I am a biker first, but do love Scoots.
