Saturday afternoon ride, IN JANUARY??

Yup that's right I took a nice 30 mile run around the valley today on my ole' XR and had a blast. My neighborhood roads were scraped clean Friday so I was able to make it out to the PW Highway with no problems. Tooled around till it started raining just a bit and decided not to press my luck as I was down Wasilla Fishook when it started... made it back to Palmer with no problems. Now I'm tearing into her for an upgraded 200 watt stator install, oil change, air filter cleaning and, general spring look over. Riding season is just around the corner now, RIGHT? Anyone else venture out in these balmy temps?

winterides

Ive actually been out quite a lot of trails this winter on my tr200 fatcat. Once It refreezes Ill be back out. When its warm like this even packed trails turn to slush and you end up pushing more than riding. If you have studs and skills its possible to ride most of the way to knik glacier on ice right now, though the conditions can change fairly quickly.

I went up Crow Creek road yesterday. Conditions are perfect for ice screws. Snow machining......not so much :(

I figured you and other TW riders would be out, on the trails with your big wheel machines I bet the trails turned to mush with all the rain and warming temps.

I guess I picked a perfect day yesterday since now we have a nice coating of fresh snow this morning.

Thinking about cruising around the grrd on the WR this week. No ice screws, I'll have to look into that. Give me a ring and stop by the house if you're around. I'll be putzing around in the garage getting things organized and building a work bench. Not much else to do in this rain.

Read it was warmer in Anchorage than most of the lower 48, or as we call it down here, America.....

1/25/14... 51 Degrees in the afternoon and W. Skyline was ice free and dry all the way up to Wallace Brothers Ranch.

Jr and I went out to the HayFlats on Saturday.

And last night it was off to DQ in Wasilla for a late night treat! I think thats the 1st time I'd ever seen my cockpit at night!!! Also got to test out the new LED light pods.... Jr got a little miffed riding lead, having my bright a** lights in his rearview.
