XRL is out, the 690 is in! The family is doing good, we had our second boy and named him after you (well you share the same name). How's your 640 doing?

Whats this about there being a special area for tent campers?

Hang on to your poker 'card' even if you aren't playing the game. They use it to stop people from poaching the course.

Meaning they will not let you past the entrance gate of the course without your card. I held up our group last year for the second lap. (total noob move) : Pulled all my cards first lap had a typical shit hand, left it on the chair at camp. Last year was my first time to the 100 and am looking forward to this year.

The Iron Giant is well and looking forward to another Desert 100. My personal goal is to get out of the basement of the old man category. I'll be running brand new knobbies and working out to get in shape.
They had a tent area last year but it was right near the entrance, noisy and dusty. I'll probably hunt down a spot near last year's up wind of the dust.

Congrats on bedient junior and the new ride! Sounds like life is good.

My biggest frustration with racing is that the organizers and old timers talk in code that makes things confusing for noobs. And now I'm doing it too!

I need to do this, having heard about it a couple years ago and finally having a good bike for it (WR250R, after a couple years of dual sporting on my wife's XT250). I plan to try hare scrambles and enduros this year, but realistically this may be my first event - I'm not sure whether to go for Saturday events or Sunday. Do the Saturday events and the race take place on the same land and more or less the same trails, or is the race a totally different course?

Last year was my first time. Our group spent the weekend there and I am glad we did. The 100 is an awsome experience. We rode the Ironman dual sport Saturday and watched the start of the 100 Sunday morning. Watching the start is a bucket list item as far as I am concerned.

There will be at least 2 of us coming down for the ADV class (2xF800gs), a couple others on the fence.

The race last year was a blast and I can't wait for this year's event.

Great video. You were really throwing it down, what was your average speed?

No idea of average speed, I wasn't keeping track of anything, first race ever and just wanted to finish.

That's how you make a video! Some of that looked gnarly for an adventure bike. Was thinking about the 800 but I think I would have more fun on the KTM. As long as you don't pass me.
