Found a couple more hours to work on the bike today. My Dad kindly drilled pilot holes in the handlebars for me, so I spent the time drilling the holes bigger, dremelling them out and filing the edges. I got the controls put on and got the bars installed on the bike. I also put the grips on and the foot peg rubber. When I took it outside I didn't realize that I had circulated oil to the left side of the engine and when I tipped it over that way it pissed oil all over my drive way  . Ah well, cover the "pee" trail up with leaves and left it. Wasn't that much anyway. I also got the wiring cleaned up...mostly. I have a couple little "niggles" that I want to tidy up, but it's mostly done. Still need to install the Hondaman ignition and put the turn signals on. Coming right along. Hopefully try and start it soon. Oh, a tip that 66Sprint passed on to me about getting the foot peg rubber on. Use hair spray. I tried heating them and hitting them with a hammer. No go. Used a little hairspray (thanks Dear ) and they went on without much fuss. Same for the grips. Here are a couple of pictures from today.

looks goo

Good colors and finish.
I bet those too-wide bars will take about 5 or 7 mph off the top, two inches off each end will be much more comfortable.
Makes me wish i still had my little 200.

I was wondering too, but they feel really comfortable just sitting on it. I'll have to buy new bars and cut new holes in them to reduce the length since the wires actually run through the bars. I'm looking forward to riding it.

Thought you guys/gals might like to see CB w/ her pants on. The day I got her for reference. I'll take some better pix in better light w/ my SLR when I'm finished, but for now these should do.

It runs!!

I thought you guys/gals might like to see this! Got the bike started tonight. Captured on camera. This is right after I added 93 Octane to the tank, had the carbs set to factory settings per the manual, and swapped in 92 main jets. Full choke, started right up after gas hit the carbs. So very excited!!

Well Sh**. I was hooking up the electrical harness today and ran into a multitude of errors, on my part for one of them, the second was a colossal headache, but I'm not sure if it was something I did, or some other problem. Either way, Sonreir of Sparck has been unbelievable - in a tremendously helpful, excellent customer support, taking care of his work kind of way.

The problem now is that I have to pull the electrical harness and send it back to Sparck to be fixed. It ate a ground wire, I have no idea how, but I turned the key and a huge plume of smoke came billowing up. This was after my BRAND NEW coil ate crap and died (there goes another $70).

Ah well, what's sweet success without a little sting every now and then? I'll report back when I know what's going on.

My repaired harness is here. I spent some time working on it last night, soldering a couple things here, taping there. It is now ready to go back into the bike! I also have the new coil I needed to replace the one I roasted. Few more weeks, or maybe even this weekend, I will reinstall the harness and hook things up. Updates then.

Balanced my rear wheel today. Can't wait for spring break so that I can finish the bike up at the end of the month.
