I have to take it slow around corners, but other than that it's like it's not even there.

They are an old set of Kuryakyn GranThrow-Over bags from my ex wifes HD Dyna. They were sitting the in the garage when I got the house back after my divorce late last Summer so I put them to good use.

I see I totally misread! They were on my bike when I purchased them, I never did figure it out. They are slightly different then any others I have seen.

Was curious too and thought it was a nerf bar to protect the bag on tip over. Only it looks like the bike got clipped from the left rear and bent it forward after crushing the pannier. If so, the bar may have saved the riders leg from being crushed. The bike could have slid backwards on that side as well, but I think there'd be more slide damage elsewhere, but hard to say from the photo.
