Nope, I'm a cheapskate trying to pay his house off. A 19 year old XR is just fine.

Do you have any time constraints? My house goes up for re-rent August 1, so I want to be in SLC around that time to take care of any renter bullshit, then bail to ride.

Sounds good. I will know later this week what dates would work best. I don't have a schedule anymore, for the most part, and could take a month off and ride to Nicaragua if need be.

Why yes indeed. I've been on the split board for many years. Invented by Kowboy/Joe Motocross who has the big KTM snowbike.

Jim, you're old enough to know better. Hope your bike survived better than Diesel's did.

What, no pics of the exorcism? The really amazing thing was removing the water & how quickly it went. 30 min max! I pulled the air filter n plug, the guys tipped the bike up, we ran the bike round n round for a few minutes to empty it out, reassembled & she-bang, it was running! The biggest issue was getting all the water out of the oily filter. Even after multiple wring outs it was later to haunt us with a few persistent drops. Fano got the last ones out about 10 miles down river. Quite a production!

Adventure !

Wow that looks exciting. Hopefully ambient air temp allowed for comfortable dry-off.

Glad you could ride away.

Death Valley

While you boys were busy dunkin your bikes in icewater, I enjoyed a ride on the BADB around Death Valley.

High temp was I dunno, 82F; Low was about 55F in a mountain pass. Hats off to Countdown for organizing the ride, and thanks to fellow BADBers Chris and Brian from Reno!

The closest thing I could find to a KTM bathtub was a 105-110F natural hotspring in Tecopa. Naturally, it was occupied (sorry no photos).

Very little so it appears. On the river we could see a bit of white in the glass but the next day I drained n flushed it & could find hardly any giving me the impression it must have evaporated on the way out. As I said before, the big issue was water on the filter. Even after multiple wring outs n shake outs there were still some drops. PITA!
