I checked on the first campground and since it is Glacier NP and it will be in peak season....[http://www.campsitephotos.com/campground/Fish-Creek]. ..does anyone make a group reservation or do we do that on our own?

I doubt if remote locations are an issue and Fish Creek does take reservations...

Sat at the start; where in Troy and at what time should we meet?

Sorry if I missed this information in previous posts.

Thanks..Phil

Phil, Good questions. We will be updating the blog with links to some of the locations such as campgrounds. There are over 90 tentable campsites at Fish Creek, it looks like $23 per site (8 people). It is one campsite that would be best to follow-up with some questions as the days go by. I doubt we will have congestion at any of the other campgrounds as they are either remote or we arrive during the work week, plus they are surrounded by primitive camping possibilities.

I've updated some info already and we will do more as time allows and as details roll out (including any changes etc.) This includes start location information (Yaak River Campground near the Yaak Road on US 12 - 9:00 am. There are two campgrounds at that location. One on each side of the Yaak River, but both are on the Kootenai River.

See post 111. Robert_W has offered to allow truck/trailers to park at his Fly Shop (in Troy) and also has a standing discount offer for cabins etc.

NW Montana Cabin Rentals ~ 15% Off for inmates.

That right.
Well I have no problem with camping in the wild. I'd prefer it actually.

Yes But, In NP We can't.

Fish Creek limits: 2 vehicles per site / 8 persons [NA for us!] and no group site.....

Sooooooo, it sounds like we need to reserve a site per two bikes [lots of reservations already made if I read the website correctly] or we need an alternate site or we all just scrounge for ourselves and meet somewhere Sun AM....

Wansfel....if we are locked into Fish Creek please let me know ASAP and I will reserve a site..

Thanks again...Phil

Not knowing the number of riders, this is a logistic conundrum. My first thought was at Polebridge, but I don't know if there is tent camping available. Bowman campground is just over in the Park and would probably have the same issues as Fish Ck. I really wanted to travel in the Park from Polebridge to West Glacier, but maybe not....

I see the Big Creek campground - USFS on the North Fork road outside the park close to the Camas Road going into the Park. I'll look into those as an option.

I'd like to be able to arrive in camp early, and BS around a bit the night before.
Where that is doesn't matter much to me.

I can see where it might be tough to find a spot if you don't really know how many there'll be!

I'll put in some bucks if it'll help get us a spot.

You all are getting a sniff of the myriad of details that Ron and I constantly think about and how to solve. Please continue to raise the issues, but don't necessarily look for immediate solutions other than the dates are LOCKED IN. We'll release information as we think is necessary to do so.

Right now, what we really need is a count of who's in. Could you please repost your intent to join us after this message. I'll then post the participants on the first page of this thread. While it's not optimal, we may need to disperse our first night's camping and have a common Saturday morning meeting point.

Also, ALL relevant information needed for the ride will be re-posted on the first page so one doesn't have to wade through this thread (as interesting as it is!).

I updated the blog for Day 4 route - Thanks to 81husky's input:
" Canyon Creek charcoal kilns on day 4? Trapper Cr road out of Melrose takes you to the kilns, and then Quartz Cr road hits 43 just East of Wise river."

2/27 update - add dirt segment from Melrose to Wise River adds 25 miles, more dirt , less pavement, more to see - thanks 81husky. http://goo.gl/maps/wd5XJ 186 mi.

Adds 20 miles to the day over what looks to be an interesting segment.

Ron
