The 07 will probably be used like Honda has used their 500 and 700 twins. Lowto medium HP specs to be sellable world wide. The 09 triple isn't sold everywhere and because of that, there's a good chance that models based on that engine will be their strong mid sized line. The Triumph 800 and 800XC own that range currently, and the 09 done right could really take that position from them.

If you haven't seen this, it is worth the time. These modded 800XC's are ridden WAY beyond their intended use. Wonder how many repairs were done throughout the making of this? Make sure you view in full screen mode...tp

Ya, seen that before. Ernie and Nick are incredibly skilled stunters. Ever see US "Top Gear" with Tanner Foust racing a 'vett against Ernie Vigil on Speed Trip through an industrial area, and over the S.F. bay bridge? Awesome.

They prove they are more than just stunters on this vid. Wonder if they could compete with the Romaniacs crowd. Those guys are insane. Never seen that Top Gear episode, but will hunt for it.

2013 Romaniacs, just 1/2 of day 1. These guys are totally insane...

Detailed Specs...

Ok, this bike has been out awhile now. I've been trying to find some specs that Yamaha doesn't list on their US website. Does anyone know:

What is the spec for Trail?
Are the forks damper rod or cartridge design?
What is the alternator output?

TIA

True, that's pretty bad ass.

I've got the episode DVR'ed. It's episode #27, Police Cars Sports. original air date 8-14-12.

Thanks for the link. Rake @ 25.0, Trail @ 4.0", Alternator @ 415 Watts - but still no mention of front suspension design.

At an $8,000 price point, can I assume a cartridge fork in today's economy? I don't think that it is necessarily a good assumption, but Yamaha quality is usually very good. Anyone who owns one know for sure?

From my reading on the fz09 boards, yes it's a cartridge. Only one leg has a cartridge. The other leg has a spring and a dummy cartridge I think. There's a vendor over there that is developing a full cartridge kit to allow adj reb, comp, and preload. Stoltec moto I think. He also has drop in valve stacks and springs available if a full cartridge swap is too much $$.

Yes, cartridge in one leg with adjustable rebound. The other leg is a dummy cartridge.

I started to post that video a while back, but was unsure about the guy's language. He is one funny guy, belongs on Top Gear, the UK version, not the milk toast US one... tp

Anybody try out the Seat Concepts foam/cover yet? That's my only real bitch about this bike. Seat is flat but feels like a bleacher.

I have used their seats before and loved them Installed for another rider, who didn't like to use a stapler, on two of his bikes... All have been great. Bet this 09 is too. tomp

In case you missed my earlier post . . . There is a cut-out in the plastic seat pan that you can add cushioned padding. I used a heavy duty grout sponge (they are very durable) mainly to raise the front (which slopes toward the tank). It made the seat much more comfortable too.
