That looks like the stock exhaust, but is it me or do the very ends of the cans look different?

Since the price for that M3 gear is 160 to 180 here in the EU, your best bet is this
http://www.partzilla.com/parts/detai...1-MN9-000.html
They quote $40 for shipping, so you should come out at about 114 incl. local tax.
Or here

Import tax here in Latvia is 21%... so, at best it sets on ~115€... I could've gotten it in dealers for 122€, but I as shipping would take two months... aint cutting it.

P.S. And as part # are different for NX650 and XR650L M3 gears, I would want to buy NX650 gear, as thats what I know will fit... I don't know what's the difference between these gears as the shaft and both gear which are next to it on the same shaft are the same for both bikes... the opposing gear has different part #, but on both engines these gears have the same amount of teeth... quite confusing. :)

P.S.S. Maybe someone got XR650L or 1988-1990 NX650 M3 gear laying around, and could help me understand what is different between post 90' NX650 M3 gear and XR650L/early NX650 gear?

NX650 and XR650L engines are the same.
The later NX650 has a shorter second gear combo and a longer 5th.

The third gear combo have the same part number.

P.S. Also #5;11;16 (in picture) has different part #.

Since you live in Europe you should be able to find a hole transmission or if you're lucky you'll find exactly the one you're looking for.
If I remember correctly, even if the gears have the same number of teeth, one of these gear has thicker teeth so ratio will not be the same.
What you can try,is to check what prices are in Spain, due to their financially times, maybe prices are reduced..?
I do not having that gear laying around, but I'm just about to order a large oder from Partzilla,I'll place the order tomorrow most likely. You can jump in on that order so shipping for you won't be that expensive,. And then I can ship it to you,on that way,it will be much cheaper for you,if you'd like.

The thing is that all other gears are in good condition... so I really need only this one!

The problem is that I really don't know what's the difference between those gears...

Then I see. That gear sprocket has been used in all XRL's and on the early NX's,I don't know in which later models.
What you can do is to post it in the XRL thread as these share's the same engine and I know guys there has teared their engines into pieces and swapped gears.
If you want to jump in on the order, let me know,I have to order during tomorrow.
Good luck.
p.s. Haven't heard that 3rd gear seem to be a problem,do you have an idea why that is..?

Sorry,I was too tired to continue yesterday. I see that sprocket seemed to lived a little hard time, what was your notification of the problem..?
Let's hope he has the gear so you can get riding soon. I have a NX -89 which is going off in parts if you'd be interested. No problem next time

Since it's not a NX thread,go in there gently and shoot your question : )

When I bought this bike the where only strange noises in second gear, third seemed to be fine. When I disassambled the engine, there was one tooth broken off of the M2 gear. Then I got spare transmission, which didn't have two gears, M5 and M3. M5 is fine, but as you saw in picture M3 has some damage...

About you NX - do you have engine disassambled? :/ (to check this gear - the difference between old NX and post 91' NX gears as old NX gear is the same as in XR650L - part # are the same)?
