So are these going to customizable triple clamps? I am looking to change out the forks on my WRR with some WR450f forks so I would have those just sitting around. They are KYB 46mm inverted forks, what are you thoughts on something like that?

Cool2 More Ink for CJDesigns

It was neat to see your name in print again Craig.
Motorcyclist Magazine, Jan 2014 issue.
The article "Ready to Rally" about the KTM rally ride.
11 days and 5,000 miles.
What a trip!

It is great that you are giving attention to the cheap seat guys riding 'Strom's.
We are looking forward to more info about your kits & products to make our bikes more adventurous.

It's funny.. I've been planning this whole winter on trying to get my DRZ400 front end on my vstrom.. and I stumble across this thread.

I think it looks and performs great! And it's exactly the path I want to travel with my own vstrom..

I'm hoping you come out with a kit soon! I'll be a customer if the price is right!

thanks for the input guys.

A custom seat is being made for this in the next few weeks that will flatten out the dished profile. Once that comes back we will be looking at other suspension height options as it will get lowered a little bit for the owner.

The Skidplate and Center stand package will be completed once suspension work is done.

We are still moving forward, now that the winter thaw has started to unfreeze our brain cells.

I'm curious about more weight reduction on this, and getting a 31"+/- seat height, even at a travel loss?

The current bike is getting a custom seat built to get rid of the dish, as this will raise the seat hight even more, a suspension mod will be done to lower the bike a bit for the rider.

I'll get more pics up as soon as I can. Shop is booked solid for 1190 R&D that needs to be done by mid May, then the 650R work can start as I plan to test the new Skidplate/ centerstand combo on our Memorial Day test ride.

Not DEAD yet!!! I've just been swamped prepping for winter. Summer went so fast. Even more so b/c I could only use one hand for 3 months due to surgery. Trying to get caught back up like a mad man.

We have finished up the rear 17"x 3.5" rear spoked wheel built using KTM 950/990 hub and cush drive, a custom rear brake rotor and a custom set of bushings to fit the stock axle.

- Why did we go with KTM hub and not other aftermarket DL billet hubs?

Sprocket options. By running a KTM cush drive setup we can run much larger rear sprockets for better off road gearing.

At the moment we are testing 14/50 and find it to be so much better in the trails.

The protoype Rekluse EXP is much happier as well.

We are now prepping for a Mexico trip this Jan. Next on the project list is to finish the skid plate/ center stand option. I hope to have to done in time for Mexico testing.

Our route will take us down Baja, then over to Mainland. Copper Canyon, then back to USA.

We've also been playing with front end ride height. We will continue to test until we get snowed in. I will try and post some current pics when I get the bike out next.

Cool2 Resurrected!

So glad to hear you are still making progress.
KTM hub sounds good and the Rekluse clutch sound fantastic!
I will keep watching…

And waiting…

Thanks.

The other huge plus, was we dropped 9lbs off the rear tire/wheel assembly over the mag 17". I was pretty surprised.

Bike is going back on the scale tonight fully fueled. I'll report back with our true WET weight findings.

Cool2 Rotating weight

9 POUNDS?

That is excellent!

Less rotating mass and less unsprung weight is win-win-WIN!

I am sure the front spoke wheel is also several pounds lighter than the stock fragile cast wheel too.
