What was the first points-ignition bike to lose the headlight circuit board? I'd really like to wire this without that monstrosity.

No need to get a harness from a points ignition bike. All the ignition stuff on the electronic ignition bikes is on a separate subharness, if I remember right.

I have a 1980 R65 main harness (my bike is '74 90/6)...I could adapt that, I guess? My whole front electric routing is modified anyway...nothing stock forward of the tank.

That's exciting. I'm glad my bike is in rideable condition, but now I'm onto the fine tuning / second-guessing phase trying to get everything right. The 4860 forks continue to be a bitch for stiction. I need to find someone with a KTM wheel and spacers to try them to eliminate that as a possibility. Prutser is tempting me with DRZ forks as well. The rear shock needs to be revalved as the fast compression circuit is way too stiff even when backed all the way out. Slow is just right though. The rear fender needs to be remounted in a better orientation - just doesn't look right as-is. Maybe some taller handlebar risers also. No matter how many items you check off, the list never really gets any shorter.

how much work did you do on your 4860s?

At some stage you had mentioned the stiction problem before, but I seem to remember on forks that you had not really overhauled

I've since given them a complete overhaul. New bushings, seals, wipers, and oil. No discernible difference afterward. The internals were in great shape with no visible wear of any kind. There's definitely some kind of misalignment going on somewhere. I'm guessing the wheel spacers are the culprits. I already replaced the axle and checked it for straightness in v-blocks with dial indicator, I need to check that the axle clamps are nice and smooth inside, then maybe swap in somebody's ktm wheel just to eliminate that possibility also.

Took my g/s with 4860's out to some trails today. Front end was great, looks like the spring rate and valving turned out to be just the trick. In the rough stuff I used all but about .75" of travel... Observed by adding a tie wrap to the fork.

Front wheel, brake is all KTM and work great, braking is very responsive for the setup. It is the standard setup used on a typical 450, considering I have the bike as light as possible with small tank and only a solo saddle I think the setup is sufficient. Btw, s meyer seat is more comfortable than my Corbin on the GS 300km so far in a day without a butt problem.

Front tc80... Still getting use to it, a bit of sliding going on in gravel. Also steering is very light, Scott's damper to be installed once a Henderson post arrives, which is now on it's way:)

Back end is not terrible but not great either with the stock shock... After I finish the 570 conversion of the KTM 530 I will start looking for a new rear shock.

Good luck figuring out your wp problem... Enjoying mine so far, would be nice to have the full travel but enjoying it so far with stock geometry.

KTM master cylinder, caliper, and line off a 950 super enduro. No regrets there at all. It's all the brake I'll ever need.
