My dealer got an email yesterday from the KTM North American Sales Manager. In summary, the bikes shipped on May 8 but one third of the May order is delayed due to problems at the production level in Austria. No date was given for the shipment of the delayed bikes.

They are life savers, my 675 has a steeply sloped seat AND a narrow ass tank, they are the only thing between the jewels and the back of the tank most of the time.

My dealer passed on the email his rep sent him today. It said his bike shipped today. Only black bikes available. He will not get any demos, he will not be getting orange bike (s) until June best case, but the rep said that this is unsure as well. He originally ordered 6 bikes. He's only getting 1 as of now. So sad

What? Is their orange paint on back-order? Lame.

Hope I get the orange, but if black is the only choice, or wait until fall, then black it will be. I like orange better but don't care that much. Dealer said my bike has shipped but no mention of color.

If you don't mind traveling the 250 miles down the 5 fwy, KTM Country in Eugene has an Orange SDR coming. Should arrive this week. You could do a fly and ride. By the time you got back to Seattle you would almost be ready for the first service. Also, if your dealer says the bike has shipped he should have the VIN and color info for you.

Thanks for the info but I will stick with the local dealer. I am making an effort to develop ties to I90 Motorsports and hope against hope that they are a good KTM dealer.

Turning the TC control completely off allows you to wear the 1290 as a hat, if you are 'too enthusastic' with the throttle.
