Nope, it's drum only, sadly. The Rebel front end with a disc is a direct swap, but hard to come by. I would have kept mine if I could have found the parts for it, but couldn't for under $400, even pulling from salvage bikes. I might get another and do the swap eventually, it was a great bike otherwise.

Drum brakes

It's true. The front drum is awful.
I had to loosen up the cable so squeezing the lever doesn't wear out my hand.
It's only an adequate stopping set up at best. You'd only endo if you accidentally hit a curb at low speed. I do like the bike otherwise and will post a pic, with the mods I've made, shortly.

For me stopping ability is all I need. My RE has brakes like that. You can give them a good squeeze, and not have to worry about locking the wheel, though the wheel can be locked if you squeeze hard enough. Modulation could be better, but I don't see it as an issue for an experienced rider. I have a car with non power assist 4 wheel drums, and it weighs close to 2 tons. It's just something you adapt to. I prefer that to a brake that locks up with a one finger pull.

I'll chime in as I have owned both. I bought a PCX new from the dealer and put about 1500 miles on it. At 230lbs I hit an indicated 60-62 mph a couple of times but as soon as I hit a hill of any size I dropped down to 50-55mph. Great scoot for cruising at 55. I always had the throttle pinned and I avg around 75-80mpg. Just picked up a 2009 HD 200 for 500 bucks that was in non running condition. Put a couple of hundred into it and now it runs like a champ. Top speed around 70 and it gets there pretty quick. I have not hit a hill that has slowed me down. I prefer the larger wheels especially at high speed. The build quality on the honda is better. I prefer the seating on the Sym with my feet below me not stretched out in front of me. Getting parts for the Sym is a nightmare. I had to order my air filter from an Ebay seller in israel (24.00 shipped) and my card rebuild kit from a seller in china (20.00 shipped) so parts are cheap but they take a while to get to me. Hopefiully this will change in the future.

I recently got a new air filter for my 2012 HD200 from Ooty's in Santa Barbara, CA. He's an exclusive SYM dealer and has parts.

Honda's tire size on the front is a proprietary tire. I wanted to set up the bike for pavement and dirt (nothing crazy, light trails), the knobbie was inexpensive and available.

That is the CB250, so it's the 250 (actually on 233 or 234 cc's I forget which) model.

I test rode the blue Nighthawk (that I posted a pic of earlier ^) and didn't get on with it, I'm afraid.

I was looking for a light, classic 'sit-up-and-beg' 250 - I tried the 'hawk and a Suzuki GN250 and a Suzuki TU250 . . . all were 'OK' - but not spot on.

In the end, I bought a 2010 Yamaha YBR250 (quite a rare bike in the UK) - not a 'classic' stance like the others I mentioned, but a fine small bike (IMO.)

That Yamaha sure looks nice.

I like the TU250 also. It was the price and timing that lead me to the CB250.

Still, I'd really rather be on a 150cc-400cc scooter with 16" wheels.
