Alone time?

Maybe I've been single way too long here. These are great pictures in this thread, but I have a question for all of you married / in a relationship people. How much alone riding time do you all get once you've introduced the s.o. to riding?

For me, I don't mind giving a ride now and again, but really need my solo rides to keep my head on straight. Now I haven't ever gone with a woman who rode herself, but I can't see that working too well either. You see, if she's slower than I am, I will only pull over on occasion to let her catch up. While this works with buddies, I can't see it working with anyone I've ever dated. If she's faster than me, I am not going to try and keep up. If she wants to stop and I don't, I'd just tell her I'd see her further up the road. If I wanted to stop and she didn't, I'd tell her I'd catch up with her later. Neither seem to be good things to do in a "relationship", whatever the f*&^ that means.

So, am I just not cut out to be married / whatever, or do the rest of you have your alone time?

BTW, my ex-wife was great about all this. She oved to ride, and maybe every other Saturday, sometimes only once a month, we'd go riding, but she understood that I needed my own bike time and really had no qualms about me just taking off. Loved her for that!

I've never had a woman on the back of my bike for more than one ride. I kind of like the independent types.

As for having a wife that rides, you put the slow one in front to set the pace...problem solved. Sure, I might get a little bored with the pace while riding behind my wife, but it beats the hell out of pulling over, waiting impatiently while thinking that something bad might have happened to her after I left her. Also, I like watching her ride, so being behind is a good thing.

She needs her alone time too. That problem just kind of solves itself. Even after having a kid, we still manage to work it out. Short rides, day rides, weekend trips, it all works out.
