Yep. In 2011 my brand new RMZ450 launched me up into the sky and slammed me down on the ground.

Screws and plate help to stabilize the fracture and keep the ends from twisting or slipping apart. Live bone is pretty slippery.

Yup, July 5th accident here. Busted collarbone going down lowside on a descending, decreasing radius corner. Whooops.

And surgery the following friday to get this nifty hardware:

I first joined the club in '74 with my right femur but had the hardware removed. To this day, it is 1 1/4" shorter than the other. Re-upped in '92 on my left arm, still have the plate. Repeated my vows in '02 with this one which has all since been removed. The first one was on the street, the latter two were while racing mx.

Wife joined the club in 2011 when a truck pulled out in front of her.

Damn what a hit and quick stop. It was kind of hard to tell from my phone screen but where you up on the edge of the track or totally off it and clip the tree? Looked like it stopped you dead in your tracks. A painful loading up the truck, glad it wasn't any worse. Interesting to have the footage and see the forces associated to the injury.

It's single track that splits, a track away from the tree and a track near it. I was nearer the tree. You can see the branch a few moments ahead but the vid doesn't capture the actual branch-to-hand contact.

Look at this picture from the XR650R site http://www.xr650r.us/

I looked at that and wondered about the bone pieces just sitting there on the side. Fast forward a few years... my dog needed a knee surgery. I explained this picture to the vet and she explains....surgeons used to think they needed to be perfect carpenters to put everything back in place for the best recovery. That is not necessary. She said that those bone particles will be called over to the femur and re form to fill in the gaps.

In Throttlemeister's Xray I too was wondering if that is an Xray right after the surgery or an Xray right before metal removal.
