Look at the Honda Elite 80's. Air-cooled and 4-stroke engines. Cheap and tough.

Went through this last year with my daughter at Clemson. Gave her a choice of the Ruckus and the Metro. She choose the Ruckus

18 months and 3,500 miles later -- no problems other than a oil flooded air cleaner after she left it on it's side for too long

Most kids have a Metro or similar. She was the first Ruckus -- there are a few now. She like being different...

The Zuma is quicker, but smells a little 'cause it's a 2 smoke.

In SC, 49cc is treated like a bicycle -- no license (driver or scooter), no insurance. Anything more is a motorcycle.

Don't ride it yourself unless you can afford two of em
