2610 vs. Nav II

I ordered a black '07 this past Saturday, which should be here in late September; needless to say I am very excited.

I have a Garmin 2610 so I'm not interested in buying the BMW Nav II. What I am interested in is hearing from anyone about the campatibility of the 2610 with the BMS mounting system used for the Nav II.

Will the 2610 attach to the BMW mount??

ONLY the NavII works with the BMW mount. The 26xx,27xx,28xx garmins will not work in the BMW cradle with the left side buttons. The NAVII and NAVIII also have their own software from Garmin that doesnt work with the normal garmin products either.

I reccomend using the Garmin mount on a RAM bracket.

This is what I bought for my 2820:

Yes but there is 2 problems
1. The four extra buttons on the left side will not work, nor will the audio out jack.
2. You can not buy the BMW mount without buying the Nav2

I've been using the RAM mounts for my 2610. Has been working great for 8 months now. I bought the RAM cradle, arm, u-bolt base and hardwire power w/audio jack from CycleGadgets when they were at a bike show.

You are paritally correct.

The two are not compatible, but I believe you can order the individual mounting parts instead of the entire kit separately, which will provide the 4 hole AMPS mount for a standard Garmin mount for a 26/27/28xx. I know the RT/GT guys have done this and there is a post somewhere in the equipment forum with individual part numbers.

I too would side with the Garmin, the logo'ed BMW version is very pricey as well.
