Opinions on Garmin GPS V?
How 'bout it? Are these any good? How limiting is the memory? I know TT makes mounts for these, but has the technology passed them by?

Yes, technology has passed them by
It's still a useful unit, but the newer ones are SO much better. I started on a GPS III+, then got a V, recently upgraded to a 60Cx. The lack of memory us very limiting, but we could answer better if we knew what kind of riding you do and what you expect out of a GPS.

Good GPS in it's day and still useful in some applications, but it's like a 386 computer - I wouldn't invest any significant dough in one today.
With the rebates, I don't see how you can go wrong with a 60Cx. - Mark |

I started with a Garmin GPS III+ then GPS V then Street Pilot and now a 2610. If the thing doesn't break I see no need to ever upgrade. Turn by turn voice guided navigation is the cats meow.

I have a GPS V and am ready to give it to the kids. It's been good but is too slow at recalculating if I get the slightest bit off-piste. If I keep moving sometimes it never catches up and i have to pull over to let it catch its breath.
How's the 60Cx, the Streetmap III and the 2610 for recalculating? Should I just throw it all in and get a Quest? |

If you only have $200 to spend-------yes spend it on the V.
However if you have more ---------forget about it------it's way outdated and is incapable of providing me with the info I need on my Adventures.
