Yamaha Riva 180
found one locally for pretty cheap..looks like it could a sweet scoot..something for me to play with maybe do the 8 mile trip to work..and possible more??..and need something the old lady can scoot to the store on and just hop on and go...been told these things can do highway speed??..anyways any ups or downs to em??i dig the foot brake..i can never get use to the rear brake at the hands thing on some scoots..anyways any insight would be good??? i was also thinking of something for crazy scooter tour trip??

They're ok. When the Japanese first started selling scooters in the American market in the very early '80's, the Riva 180 was already an old design.
They are sturdy, stoggy and fairly realible. As I recall, they could just just the needle to touch 60 m.p.h.

I have the riva 200 last year I comuted 55 miles each way on it not every day took the cbr some and the ta and the drz.
I was told the 180 and 200 are almost the same the 200 will do a touch over 70 on flat and level no wind. I was putting skin chin tires on it at $12/tire I would order 3 at a time and it would eat a rear in maybe 3.5 k so it seemed I had that rear wheel off more then on. the fuel tank will only hold about 65 to 70 miles worth mine gets~50mpg it was fun but the drz cbr and ta got better fuel econ and were more comfortable I still don't know why I like scooters. |
