I'd offer an opinion if I though I knew anything about batteries that could help.
Please let us know how it works out. Hopefully some battery guru will chime in.

I've been using the Westco/Panasonic batteries for 5 years now. I've had no problems with them. I've been told that they can fail without warning you like wet batteries sometimes do. I've yet to have that happen but I do replace them every 3 years. Digikey has very good prices on them. JT

why diesel
I was talking to a master mechanic at the auto stores about the difference
in diesel vs regular batteries. His opinion was that .. the diesel provide more CCA and would last longer. Since my GS battery is two old and having a harder time cranking the 9.5 pistons.. why not try it?

If it fits there isn't a good reason not to try it. If you have to hack up the battery box that's a good enough reason for me not to do it. But hacking up your's is up to you.
No one I know pays the $99.95 for the Westco/Panasonic they are $62 from Digikey. JT |

What I would like to see is a small 1" long extension for the rubber battery cables (my dreams are meager).

what's the difference? (series of stupid questions)
I looked on digikey, and the panasonic battery there was described as a leak free or leak proof sealed laed acid battery. Is this the same as a gel battery, or is it just a leak proof battery? Also, JT mentions a westco/panasonic battery, and all that are listed are BB's and Panasonics. Is it a W/P just because you know it is?
the reason I ask is because I am having battery problems, I think. When my bike is cold, and the temp is cold, and I have been riding around town during the day, it is nearly impossible to start, and I fear getting stranded. Also, I do not know what is "normal" because i just got my bike, and am still learning about it's habits. |

The westco/panasonic is a sealed mat battery and not a gel battery. I'm sorry if my westco/panasonic label confused people. They are labeled either westco or panasonic but are the same battery. I'm not sure who makes it westco or panasonic. On the digikey site you find it by the amp rating, the battery for the /5's and the g/s is a 20 amp battery the larger battery for gs's and rt's etc. is 28 amp. JT
