OK, I'll chip in. I picked up an '08 in May and now have 9300 miles on it. Great bike, i rode from the midwest to the west coast. Lots of 400-600 mile days plus an 850 and a 980 miler. The fjr never blinked. The only farkles so far are a Throttlemeister and a Cee-Bailey+2+2. I may add a set of slipons and a top box in the spring.

Picked up a used '04 for cheap ( previous owner had fumbled it in his garage, scratching the fairing minorly) shipped it us to San Diego in June, rode it to San Francisco shortly thereafter. Went back in mid Sept and rode it from my buddy's place in Oakland to Philly.
No big thing. Day after I left it in another buddy's care he calls me stranded from some strip-mall where he's gone on errands ( I'm home in Honolulu at this point, completely unable to help) - the bike is DEAD - turns out the (rather well-documented) hot lead to the ignition broke off right at it's soldier connection. Nice. |

Glad you're liking yours so far Tyll. I'm impressed with the setup you've done on yours too. I've put about 15,000 miles on mine in the last 3.5 months. Tremendous at so many things from local canyon rides to covering half the country in a weekend.

Parle vous FJR?
Rather than pics of my former FJR, how about these AP images of Pres Sarkozy?
It seems the French do have good taste... Jeff ![]() ![]()

Our longest single day was 550 miles coming home from around Watkins Glen, NY, back to Columbus. The 550 miles took us 12 hours, but the first 300 miles took 9 hours 'since we were on all back roads. Quote:
Here's another one from there that I kinda like:

I did a round trip from Florida to Alabama last week end. 1,366 miles, tried out my new sargent seat and camera mount.
I've added just about everything I want to. Throttlemeister, grip puppies, throttle rocker, big screen, bag covers, wild bills pegs, givi top box, ram mounts, reflective decals, FZ1 mirrors, GPS, head light guards, tank protector........ And more I can't remember ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

I would have to say that my Russell seat was the best addition to my FJR, next in line would be the Wild Bill Highway pegs.
After testing of windshields I've settled on the V-Stream with Rifles tuning block. For some reason I have noticed the bars buzzing like never before and I'm rolling up on 25K. Perhaps a valve adj. is in order?

I have one of Garauld's powder coated rack and pillion backrest too, very nice pieces. That and some Powerlet plugs (2 rear, 1 front) are about all I've done. Lighting is going to get upgraded, and I might go +2 on the screen, for the wife's comfort.

With Rifles windshield you get a tuning block that tilts the screen back 15 degrees. http://www.rifle.com/stores/showdetl...JR1300-FJR1300
I bought the Rifle first, then a CeeBailey and now have the VStream, I left the block in place durng all tests .I have heard of folks making this adjustment with washers....fyi. Another great fark is the G2 throttle cam, makes a pleasant difference. http://g2ergo.com/shop/catalog/Street-4-1.html
