HELP...Steib/Zundapp parts...

A freind of mine is in dire need of this...

"...I have a S-502 Stieb sidecar (1952), with a Zundap wheel and hub. About 10 years ago at bike week somebody stole the hub and outer bearing "

If anyone can help him find a replacement hub, he's gonna hack his DL650.
I can forward any info, and even assist with the exchange of emails, if anyone can help this guy out.

As an alternative, he can have the swingarm modified to accept a wheel of his choosing pretty easily.

A Steib in the dark ...

I believe that a Polish company is now in the Steib reproduction business, and that the wheel/axle assemblies for all of the S-500 and TR-500 sidecars are the same.

Dauntless lists a slug of parts from these folks here:

http://www.dauntlessmotors.com/Mount...assis/Hardware

There's a German seller on eBay who often has repop Steib winged axle nuts and Maker's plates listed - this company also stocks other repop parts for the Seib sidecar.

http://www.ideal-seitenwagen.de/Engl...tenwagen_e.htm

I don't know how much good this info will do, but at least I can feel like a 'suppository of useless knowledge...'

Cheers

Jim

Dana already recommended seitenwagen.de - I'm such a slow typist - also, upon re-reading Kliff's post, the Steib has been fitted with a "Zundapp hub and wheel" - if the Zundapp stuff is roughly the same vintage as the sidecar (early '50's), then wouldn't it be very close to the hub and axles that are used on the 'modern' Urals?

This is reaching waaaay back in the memory archives, but I recall that the big Zundapp sidecars were originally a military design, and their wheels used two tapered beaings mounted on threaded collars that you had to adjust for the proper tension with a pair of pin-wrenches

If you make the trek to Blue Moon, lemme know when. I might be able to get away and meet you up there. Been needing an excuse for a road trip anyway, and I'd like to take some pics of the "rolling stock" up there.
