Looks like a new Australian map has been released and these discounted units are loaded with the old maps. I've just been reading about it and the map really does look like it's worth upgrading to. I think once that map is loaded you can enable the map correction features. This means you can make your own corrections to the supplied maps. You can also upload them for other users to share, and also download corrections which other users have logged.

Although the tomtom website only shows such features available to the Rider 2 models, you can load the same software version onto Rider 1 models and use the new maps and correction features as well.

$748, + $150 for the new maps is about what you would pay for a TTR2 with the new maps already on it maybe :)

I have seen them advertised for around the $700 mark lately, but until you look at the map version it may not be that much of a saving either.
