Module Master Rebuilds BMW ABS Pump Modules

I see this info in a couple of other threads but thought I'd add a header that may be easier
to find later on.

Anyone with a BMW that is equipped with ABS, any version, is or may become aware
of the failure problems of the ABS pump that can result in a repair bill of
$2000+.

If you're smart and keep your machine in some sort of warranty, it's not a big
deal. If it's out of warranty or, if you want a fix that is better than the
factory-issue pump, you now have the option of a rebuild that will cost you only
$250 in most cases.

They're in Moscow !! (Idaho, that is.) Tyler is the main man there and he
knows his stuff. Not only do they do motorcycle modules but they do car units
as well. He is getting a LOT of BMW repairs.

The biggest problem with the BMW pumps is that the commutator brushes inside the
pump motor itself tend to deteriorate. The degeneration apparently is due as
much to time as usage.

Module Master replaces these brushes with better-quality pieces and does the
same with any other internal components that are marginal. They then fully test
the unit and give it a FULL 5-YEAR WARRANTY.

I had the unit on my '07 GS rebuilt and it works fine.

Removal and installation of an ABS pump is not a huge challenge for anyone with
mechanical experience but it does require diligence and a full bleed/flush of
the brake system.

Even if you have to have professional help with the removal/install, Module
Masters can save you around $2000 in many cases and give you a better-than-stock
ABS system.

Sounds like an awesome resource. I wonder if they fix more servo or non-servo pumps? Maybe they will keep track.

I remember back when the fear was the servo pumps would be short lived, but it "appears" that the non-servo pumps are breaking more. Just an observation, not to take away from the point of the thread.

The most recent post I've seen indicated they have yet to be able to repair the servo ABS models. Does anyone know if they now can service these pumps?

Sorry if this sounds stupid but how do you know if your abs module needs to be rebuilt?

ABS light on, no ABS is an indication. Though these things do happen for other reasons. If you bike is working normally, it is fine.

They've had the servo-ABS unit from my 2002 RT for nearly three months and keep saying they can fix it "any day now". The bike actually works better without ABS, but I'll re-install it if I can get it fixed.

My abs pump was out. Dave Campbell in Santee sent it to Module Masters. Worked for about a month and went out again.

Send it back. It has a five year warranty. Tyler is very good to work with. I had to have a little more work done to my ABS2 unit after 18 months. It cost me only the postage to send to them (flat rate postal box) and the time to pull it out, put it back in, and bleed the brakes (1 hour total combined).

Just an FYI I was one of the first to have a ABS unit(2005 servo) fixed by Tyler at module master... He started wit ZERO information on bmw abs systems and everything he has done for our community he did through hours and hours of trial and error and tracking down components... All on his dime.. I know some of this because I worked with him on sourcing used units etc. there are dozens of variants in these systems... He stands behind his work and is an incredible resource for us..... Or just go give your dealer $3,000 parts and labor to fix your ABS system....

I just put mine in the mail to him yesterday. I thought getting the unit out of the bike was going to be much harder than it was.

What kind of ABS system did u send him. IABS?

It was out of a 2007 12GS, so whatever that equates to. I can't remember exactly ATM. I'll look it up when I get home tonight if no one else has answered.

Tyler did my 2005 ServoABS... 1200GS as he keeps sourcing parts he adds to his repertoire ..

I would call him with your year and model and ask before dismissing he can't do it..

I actually called tyler today and he said to call back in Jan and check if the parts that he is waiting for have come back. for the 2005 servo assisted abs.
Also will cost around 600-700$.
I ordered a new unit today since the seller paid for the ABS unit.

I called today and heard the same, mid january call back and see if the parts are in...estimated repair cost $400ish

Got an email from Tyler today. He says they are still sourcing parts for the 04 version of the servo iABS, but should be in business "in a few months."

I finally got my newly rebuilt ABSII installed and test ridden on my '00 1150GS. I'm happy to report that is works perfectly and initialized on the first try yesterday.
