I've got a KTM 400 exc that I want to have the engine gone through locally. I pulled it out last night and just want to have someone good and reasonable go through it for me.

Any good wrenches around in the valley here?

Rick has rebuilt a KTM motor for me in the past and it ran good as new.

I second Dave. He rebuilt my engine when the sump pump gear stripped behind clutch basket and engine seized from no oil being circulated. Went with a 520 instead of 400 and did the single sump conversion.

Good guy and knows his stuff.

Sorry.. I should have specified Northern Oregon. Eugene to Portland area ideally. The Seattle area would be a bit of a drive.

Dave does work all over the country. The times I have been there, 8-10 engines being worked on. Most guys ship their engine in a cooler.

Google can't find DJH in Kirkland.

Could we have a bigger clue?

Don't forget about Todd at KTM Northwest in Gresham. An amazing mechanic and KTM specialist. I wouldn't trust anyone else.

Whats the single sump conversion? Dave rebuilt my 520 for me when I crapped out the cam bearing. He did the 5 angle and kibble white valves, one bigger cam and upgraded my 1st and second gears to the EXC gears. I ended up having to take it back to him, I didnt change the roller rocker arms and the bearing in those shit out after about 800 miles. Screwed the cam up. Guys amazing! we tore it down and fixed it and I left with the motor that night. Motor has 3700 miles 140 something hours on it and runs like a rapped ape.

Single sump is not for RFS, but the xc4 (or rc4?) that has the separate engine and transmission oil. Makes them not separate anymore.

Makes sense. Just read the post from the guy that said he went from a 400 to a 520. Was just curious. Always looking for the trick mods for the bike

Due to me recommending to my neighbor, that he take his no start 650L here, and him not hearing from Rick for 3 mths, I now withdraw my recommendation.
