Yes, I'd like that. We need to find someone to build 3-5 chassis. He doesn't build them anymore?

There are some top notch chassis builders on pirate4x4.com, might take a look over there. In fact, shoot Camo a PM over there and he'll help you out. He's a personal friend of Robby Gordon and an ex desert racer himself.

    That's good advise right there.

Kroyer Racing engines and Gearworks out of Las Vegas for engine/drivetrain. They work together and the results speak for themselves.

Geyser is the only way to go. SPD I believe is not in business anymore.

You might want to check the RDC classifieds for a good deal on a already built truck. Could save you mega bucks and most of the problems have been worked out plus they usually come with lot's of spares.

Talked to Geiser today. I can tell already who is the good builders. They got a waiting list:tb . Can't find a sight for SPD. The principles want brand new. I tried to talk them in to a used one at first and even a pro truck but they want brand new TT. Good for me cause I'll get to drive it too:clap .

Another option is Stout Industries. Clyde does a good job on trucks but he is new to the TT build. Solid truck as he took 3rd in an underpowered at Primm. Chassis is solid.

Simply put, if you have the cash and time Gieser is the best. Rick and crew know what they are doing. But the chassis is only the beginnig. Next you need to get a solid motor builder and trans person. Then there is all the other little things. Good luck. Driving a TT first time out is not really the best way to go. But have fun if you have the unlimited cash to do it.

I wouldn't build new in this economy, there are tons of guys needing cash and selling their race teams cheap.
Don't discount the value of the spares, tools and support vehicles that go with a team for sale, you can spend as much for the extras as you spend on the truck.
Give Cameron a call, he's usually pretty plugged in on what's available.
Rick Geiser can point you in the right direction too.
Hope you've driven one before, they're not for rookies.:eek1

BTW, one of your neighbors just won the Baja, he might have some advice.

I would look for a used one also. Some new trucks take at least a season to dial in and some of the big dollar teams are hurting right now. I just heard of some brothers getting their casinos taken away by their creditors.

They just don't care to go used. I have found some good deals. They have the budget. Rick does know of one of his trucks that's new with only about 200 miles of testing. I want to get that one and get them alot of seat time until Rick can get some built by the end of the year.
They are also looking at Jimco. His biuld time is short. Being these are noobs I don't think it really matters too much.

I was thinking of picking up this Toyota and finishing it. Give them some seat time cost effectively and be a good chase truck. They hate it when I mention "cost effective". What do you guys think of this truck?

    Have you thought about ProTruck?
The formula is set, all the decisions are made and they're pretty damn fast.
Pretty easy turn-key race team with excellent support.
Race that for a couple of seasons, get the lay of the land and step up to TT if there's still interest.

Talked to Ron down there on Monday. I tried to get them to go that way. Spec chassis and I could easily build the engines. Plus, only 175K race ready. I need to get them a ride in a pro truck and just not tell them it's "only a pro".

I told them the Grand-Am team I worked for charges about 40K per race for prep, transportation and track support. They weren't scared. I said about 500K for race costs per year(they do not want to go to baja)and 2.5 mil for equipment, trucks for transport, pre-running and race vehicles. They gave me a 8 digit figure for 3 year deal. I will believe it when I see it:rofl . My first year salary will have to be paid up front. We are meeting down in Vegas for the Mint so we will see how it goes.
Their other option we discussed was open wheel racing but everyone agreed that desert is much more fun. Personnally, I get board on a road course after about 10 laps.

    Bronco driver,
$430 bucks per mile. Ouch. Hope your luck improves.
