First of all I am sorry, because there is informational over the place but I can't make sense, read the Nav v Manual, read posts but I keep getting lost. So my question is now, how do I transfer my music and play list from iTunes, without making a huge mess in my iTunes, which I hate because I am stuck with, or at least feel like I am. Is there someone there willing to help and write a simple (if possible) step by step way to keep my iTunes and Nav V synced? Thank you so very much! Astolfo
Garmins play mp3 files. If all your music is native iTunes it is likely in apple's AAC format. So first you may have to convert to mp3 format, then download to the zumo. There is not a feature in iTunes to just plug your gps into your computer and sync it. You have to first make sure you have mp3 files of the music, then download to the gps.
I understand this, that is why I am asking for the tutorial/procedure. There might be many different ways to do this but I just need one that I can routinely use. But thank you for stating my problem in a different way, maybe someone understands it bettered now.
Some related info here http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=731976&page=69 I have not done this yet as I don't have a wifi listening device (yet).
OK, there's nothing special about the NAV5 when it comes to the Media Play. It's just like all of the zumo brand devices. As the previous posts have indicated you just need to convert your iTunes music to MP3. iTunes will do that for any of your music tracks except "purchased music". Just select your music and right-click. Select "Create MP3 Version". If it can't it's because it's a protected file. You can convert your protected files but burning them to CD and them ripping the CD back to iTunes with your preferences set to MP3. Your Playlists do need some attention and the link above will take you to the thread where I outlined what you need to do to convert your iTunes Playlist to a NAV5 Playlist. It's an easy edit in a text editor of your choice and can be done with a single "Find and Replace All". Just right-click on your Playlist and select Export and use the M3U format. Then edit them in your text editor as outlined.
