Hi All, Has anyone had a problem where no matter how tight they did the handle bar mounts they still move. I had a big off last weekend and the bars were twisted to one side, I hit them back in to place but now they move easily. Today I loosened them off and re-tightened them as tight as possible, even used a pipe on the end of my allen key and they still move quite easily. I have the Touratech 25mm bar risers installed, has any one else had this issue. I am thinking that I have damaged the rubber mounts in the tripple clamp, maybe one has split as it is only one side that moves easily.
I have the same problem, it started when I installed the bar risers... It really can't handle any force on the handlebars.
same issue here...but only minimal movement when hit REALY hard...prefer that rather than anything rigid and breaking the shit out of the whole bike...
I am thinking that the height has made the leverage on the risers to great to handle as mine now move quite easy, might see if I can get new rubber mounts, if not then bugger it I'll get a proper triple clamp as it anoys the shit out of me. Thanks for the responses guys
I have 2" Rox Risers and ride reasonably agressively. My handlebars also moved too much on the rubber mounts. This caused the right side securing bolt to shear due to fatigue while I was riding/sliding at speed on gravel. Pretty exciting but don't want to repeat it. :eek1 Therefore I intend replacing the rubber bushes with aluminium bushes. Zeta make these for Suzuki, Honda, KTM etc ( http://www.bikebiz.com.au/products/ZETA-Rubber-Killers.html ) but I haven't found any aluminium bushes for X Challenge. Does anyone know of anything off the shelf to suit the XC? If so any feedback on success or problems? I don't want to repace the top triple clamp to fix the problem so will get the bushes machined locally if really necessary. Cheers Dean
I don't think anyone makes solid bushings for the G650X, your best bet is to get them machined locally.
