I'm pretty sure that a 990 is superior to the 1150 in every way. :deal

Make sure you check for the Lippincott cone when you go back!
Have fun in baja, too. :D

If you have to ask "why," you haven't spent enough time moto camping or using gas station bathrooms :lol3

Wow, I just realized that those babywipes (and the mini mini japanese handiwipes above them) are so old,
they were in the Summer of Stupid look-at-all-the-crap-I-keep-in-my-pockets photo from 2010.

uh oh. I think I have a hoarding problem...

Oh, I'm sad for you too! :cry Hopefully you'll be able to reschedule soon.

heh, looks like secret agent T Cone has been working his orange magic...:evil
    Eggcellent...

    Aww, man.
We beat the dust cloud guy, but his 2 friends were already at the cabin!

    Oh well.
It was a fun ride anyway. Plus, thereĀ’'s plenty of room for everyone. :freaky

I took most of the cabin pantry photos for larryboy, so he can check inventory. :D

    Not much firewood left!

We must have missed the Little Wan Cone at Teakettle by minutes/hours. We spent about 15 minutes checking, pissing off the tourists waiting for us to get out of their picture.

Ran into a couple in a Volvo Wagon between the Racetrack and the top of Lippencott with a flat tire, he had just finished bolting on the Mini Spare as we stopped. We considered plugging up his original tire but the side wall gash and missing chunk of aluminum were more than plugs could fix. Halfway to the Crater the Mini Spare came off the wheel and he took out his oil pan. His tow bill will be nothing compared to the pain he'll endure after seeing the fury in his wife/girlfriend

I haven't had time to read the whole thing, but have enjoyed what I have seen so far. I sure appreciate the sense of humor and nice photos! I have visited a friend in Pahrump several times and spent time visiting and hiking in Death Valley and am looking forward riding that area on my bike. I rode through Titus Canyon in a cage and think it would be a HOOT on a bike.

    Happy trails!

Hey, HayDuchessLives - welcome! Yep, DV is waaaay better by bike. :deal
    Have fun!

Okay, gotta wrap this up soon.

    Day 5: 3/15/12 Total mileage 165
PSR - Goler - Barker Ranch - Mengel - Geologist Cabin - Mengel - Goler - Ballarat - Charcoal Kilns - Goldfish Pond - PSR

Instead of doing the usual loop, which would have taken us on Warm Springs Rd to West Side Rd to Furnace Creek (and pavement back to PSR),
We decided to go back the way we came and do Mengel and Goler from the other direction.

The other guys left while we were taking photos inside the cabin.
I was hoping that enough time had passed so they wouldn't be wabbits for BigWan

Now, this video was supposed to go up and over Mengel and down the other side.
Unfortunately, I must have accidentally hit the button just before we got to the top.
    :becca

    Motherbrother!

So, you can just see the guys from the cabin at the top and then the video ends.
    Oh well.
Sorry. It still would have been boring, if that's any consolation. :dunno

    Going down the other side.

It was nice going back the way we came, but it kinda sucks for you guys.

    Same ol' pics...

    Back in Goler canyon.

    Here come the steps...

We did them 2up. Nothing fancy. After South Park Canyon, they didn't seem bad at all.

    Bye, Goler!

    Hello, Ballarat!

We stopped to enjoy some of Ballarat's finest ice cold $2 beer...Mmmm...beer.

Hung out and BS'd with Rocky for a bit.
We learned a lot about the largest underground lake in the world.
Rocky showed us the ginormous salt crystal he found...
We didn't lick it, but we'll take his word that it was salt! :lol3

Speaking of lick, gave some love to Potlicker...:D

After our break, BigWan was fiddling with the helmets, so I ran to use the ladies room...:jive

    matt: where were you?
    me: bathroom.
matt: you went pee here? how was it?
me: Eh. there wasn't a door...
matt: oh, right. I heard that the door was getting in the way of the cameras...
    me: :eekers

    :lol3

    As we were riding away...

matt: hey, did you catch that poster on the wall?
me: yeah! took a picture of it.
matt: what?! you took a photo of the [redacted]?
me: In the industry,** we call that...Booty, "Ballarat-style!"
    :kat

** by the way, I'm not in "The Industry" or any industry at all.
It's just another one of our stupid running jokes.
"In the industry, we call that ________."
    :rolleyes

    Anyhoo.

One last nudie pic for Questor and Dabracing! :evil
heh, just calling you two out for fun. I know everyone loves the nekkid ladies...

had to make an extra large ADV sticker for this one!

Man, I really did clear out the rocks didn't I? Sorry about that, 1200 pounds of bike and riders is really fun to take places like that. :lol3 I like the low first gear on your KTM, Little Wan. The BMW can't do that on it's best day!!:eek1

Watch out for that orange Kool Aid, Rob. I think LittleWan is trying to lead you astray, not that it would be hard to do. :lol3

Hey Little Wan: Make Mud Your Favorite. :deal

Big Wan: Next time I want pictures, it's the ADV way. Dirt/mud naps require pictures first, before anything else. :D

I like the furry critter pictures. Thanks :thumb

Maybe some day I will be able to find one of your T-cones if you continue to sprinkle the country side with them. Hint, hint.

    No Picture, No Cone!

know, damn late start. In our defense it was cold this morning and we were out late last night. They said it was 12 degrees up at Cerro Gordo overnight when we got up there, the ride out to Swansea was certainly brisk :eek1

Due to the late start and time chatting and sight seeing at Cerro Gordo we couldn't make an attempt on the cone. We ran into HanksMyBuddy halfway between CG and Swansea and spent more time chatting. Great Ride, some incredible views from up top, Thanks for sharing this one, I don't think we would have even considered it without the RR!

You guys need to ride more so we don't have to wait so long your next ride report. Thanks for the most genuinely honest and fun ride reports on the board. And your photos aren't 'mediocre' either. This one is full of good stuff. One of my favorite observations in this one-

He probably would have taken pics, but most of the time I was by myself when I dropped the bike.
Like the cone fairy? I'll do my best :D

Sorry you didn't get the cone, but at least you got a great ride :D
So glad this RR was good for something, haha!

Aww, thanks dickosaurus (your name always cracks me up) - I'm happy that you enjoy these reports.
But, I can't do them too often - you guys would be so sick of all my stupid old jokes...:rolleyes
A little littlewan goes a long way...

Heh - anything for you, dabracing! you got us down to Death Valley and into South Park :deal
Is this a test, sion? :huh
And, no it's not Katja. I did a little detective work and that's Cali Luv.
    edit - here's her twitter feed: https://twitter.com/therealcaliluv
    You're welcome!

muskeg - you and most of ADV! :lol3

    All right you guys,
    I'm behind again.
    Sorry.
    It's easter weekend!
Went for a ride today (250 miles) and tomorrow is an all day family fest.
Back to Death Valley on monday...

In the meantime, here's a few pics from our day ride...

Ride details in that link (above).
Started off in a group, taking photos and freaking people out by passing them...

Explored a little by ourselves (this started off as single track)

We tried it 2up, but couldn't. Not enough Mo'menum :cry
Went down, but no biggie (Tn Walrus - I didn't hurt my foot!! woo!)

Matt did it on his own.

Met some cool ADVers (JustPaul and Jill)

    Did some more exploring...(with Bartek990)

    It was a good time!

We have about 2000 miles on these Scorpion Rallys now - the back was pretty whupped already, but it got bad by the end of the day...

    Front's still looking good, though...

I know I made everyone cry last time (summer of stupid) when I told them that there's no easter bunny, so I won't do it this time.

Hope you all get some good sh... stuff in your easter baskets tomorrow!
(dabracing and Questor can scroll down to the bottom of that link...you, too, sion :lol3)

Sorry, no Passover nudies for our Jewish friends - can you guys just sub matzo crackers for the peeps? thanks :D
