    Hey Janne,
the "cheap" version I'm planning is the Wilbers 540: link. They sell on ebay for €315,-They'll build it according to your weight. The corresponding WP damper is 550,-

I have an '88 NX650 that I want to install a modded carb on. I found someone willing to sell me the carb off his '06 XR650L (he replaced it with an Elderbrock pumper, the one he wants to sell me already had the dynojet kit installed). I was wondering if anyone knew if they both use the same carb? I found out the XR650L uses a 42.5 kehin CV carb but after several searches I can't seem to find info on the NX's carb size. I want to keep the stock carb stock and use the Xr650L's modified carb in case I mess up.
    Thanks for your help!!

I would say GO FOR IT. The engine in the NX650 and XR650L are almost identical. Somebody smarter than I can tell you the difference. For that matter there are a lot of similarities to the XR600 as well. I have looked into a carb change myself. There is a guy in Chicago (I think) who recently did a jet change on his stock carb and was very happy. To get maximum benefit, you would want to change the intake and exhaust as well, but then you are talking some serious money. As far as my research goes, I think the Mikuni Flat Slide 41MM carb would be the best option for the money.

Keep us up on your progress.

I have no idea about the NX650's carb diameter, but they are all designated as Keihin VE80 for the '88s. From the outside, they look indentical to the one on the XR650L. I'm not sure you'd gain anything in a straight swap. Look at 4strokes.com for ideas on modification.

I installed a Dynojet kit on my NX, along with a modded airbox, K&N, ABP headers and GPR 1-1 exhaust.

Here's a list with Euro NX carb types:

    Modelle Baujahr Vergasertyp
    NX650 (J) - 1988 VE80A (offen), VE80B (gedrosselt)
    NX500 (J) - 1988 VE80C

    NX650 (L) 1990 VE84A bzw. VE84D (offen), VE84B bzw. VE84E (gedrosselt)
    NX500 (L) 1990 VE80C

    NX650 (M) 1991 VE84D (offen), VE84F (gedrosselt)
    NX500 (M) 1991 VE84G

    NX650 (N) 1992 VE84D (offen), VE84F (gedrosselt)
    NX500 (N) 1992 VE84J

    NX650 (S) 1995 VE87C (offen + gedrosselt)

    NX650 (V) 1997 VE87C (offen + gedrosselt)

There is a 1990 NX 650 here in Ecuador for real cheap if anyone is interested in taking a ride. The bike is from France and without papers, hence the cheap price. Proly around $200. Runs decent, has aftermarket Acerbis tank, bashplate is also a water resevoir and has a GPS mount. Decent deal, once it is out of the country.....

Recently added to my stable, 1988 NX650. This is my second NX650, I regretted selling my last one so this is a replacement. Increased the main jet, removed the smog pump, other than that it is stock.

Well that is the other option, but it will cost allot to send a gas tank to NA. Probably the same price as buying one that has not been under the Saharan Sun. And frankly, I don't have the time to part it out.

I think it would be a better opportunity for someone to fly down, get there jollies on it for a month or 2 and resell it.
    One might call this....a "vacation"....

Hello folks, anyone has knowledge about what brand of aftermarket exhaust is available for late 90s Honda Dominator?

Preferrably in pairs like stock, I'd know staintune has it but is 2 into 1.

    Thanks.
