My heated grip switch and mode button are not working. Has anyone been into the right hand switchgear to see how things hook up. Any idea what size torx driver is needed to take it apart?

I don't know why anyone would bother retro fitting one.:huh

It's a good excuse to change bikes once the special editions come out next year!:D I've already warned my wife that this WILL happen!:rofl

Perhaps, but I've never stripped a torx bolt... ever.

    Philips, hex... rubbish.

Why faff about with it? Get it warrantied. Nokia obviously had a bad run with Rev 1 switches but the failing switches seem to have been resolved in later (Jul onwards) builds.

I'm surprised she's not threatened to turn you into a eunuch trading in the bike after only a year! :D

There is a guy with a 1600GT that took apart and fixed his switchgear. Since they are similar to those on the GSW, you may want to check that out:

    http://www.k1600forum.com/forum/bmw...tomy-lefthand-combination-switch-failure.html

The procedure will undoubtedly void the warranty on the switchgear. If you are not in any kind of a rush, I would just have the dealer replace it under warranty.

My 1150 came with a bunch of over torqued Torx. Use a torque wrench, people!

So, what do you prefer? Over-torqued Torx or stripped Allen heads? :lol3

Yes, loving the bike...just wish I had more time to ride. Let us know how the test ride goes, particularly interested in your thoughts on the steering damper.

Actually the only one that can tell us something real about the dumper is an '13 owner that either switched to '14 (yes there are such consumer nuts or filthy rich people out there) or a '13 owner that has test-rode a '14 with exactly this test in mind.

    Anybody out there?

6 of one, half dozen of the other! I had to drill out the Torx on my rear brake caliper. All the way thru the hub..... MAJOR PUCKER FACTOR- but I got it done

Or the other way around. But I doubt you'll see much of a difference in normal riding.

Still waiting on my 2014. I'm hoping it doesn't have those ugly white springs!

    Thanks for the information.
Getting to the dealer is a huge hassle so I will probably take a look first. I don't think taking it apart would void the warranty and I'm not sure how they would know anyway. Just a couple of torx screws.
