2013 + Honda CB1100

I had a friend on another forum sit on the 1100 for me at the MC show in North Carolina, today. He said it was way too small and cramped for his liking. Of course, he is 6'4" and weighs 270lbs, with size 13 shoes, that did not fit on the mid pegs at all, he lamented.

Learning that, I bet it will fit my 5'10", 195lb and size 9 shoes frame, quite well. I guess it was designed for the average size rider, whatever that is. If there are any available around here not already pre-sold, I may have a chance to get one, too. tp

I'll bet at 6'4 and 270 lbs a lot of bikes would seem like mini bikes. He needs an adv bike like a GS Beemer.

Fork gaiters would be a good isea on the bike.

I was just posting whatever I could find. They may all be photo-chopped for all I know. I do think it gives an idea of just how much you can do with this bike though. It should be fun to see all the mods once we actually get our toys.

I was trolling around some other forums and there were a few gripes about having a single throttle body and a crank driven alternator. Whats the big deal with this? I understand basic mechanics but I failed to see what the fuss was over. Maybe someone could enlighten me.

Not sure why the fuss, but Cycle World reported in their first ride report that the 1100 has an excellent PGM-FI injection system with four 32mm throttle bodies.

I read somewhere about a single TB too, but hopefully CW is correct with four...

Some of the earlier information appearing on the web indicated that the CB1100 headed for Europe, Canada and the USA employed just a single throttle body amongst other things like the servo driven exhaust flap. Some people just ran with that information reporting on the bike before actually laying eyes on it. I believe it was on this forum that someone had posted a link to a podcast reporting on the CB1100 where they more or less trashed the bike based on much of this same mis-information. Of course one of the guys reporting on the podcast was apparently a Moto Guzzi dealer, so of course no bias there.

As I've mentioned before, I've been following this bike since before it was released in Japan. I've found it to be very entertaining to see just how much reaction this bike has garnered both positive and negative. I agree with others that have said that it's a good sign when a bike generates very little indifference. That certainly seems to be the case with the CB1100.

I have not laid eyes on the bike yet, but I'm willing to go out on a limb that there's no way it has a single throttle body.

Many reviewers have commented that this bike will fit riders at 6'0" and under like a glove. Over 6 feet? You are going to have problems.

Your 6'4" friend is waaay too large for this bike. Remember, it was released in the japanese home market first. Now, they've put a higher seat and bars for the US/European Markets, but, 6 feet is still the optimum height, from what I've heard.

I'm 5'11" 175lbs, and the ergos fit me like a glove. I have a 33" inseam and wear a 16 1/2/34 shirt. I sat on the bike for an extended period of time and checked out all the controls. For me, very comfortable.

It has FOUR 32mm throttle bodies, with enrichment and altitude compensation, etc. 85 horsepower, beautifully sorted out.

I'm in the same part of the state you are?.......I see everything from 87,89,91 & 93.......I understand if your talking about certain parts of Brown,Adams or Scioto?.

Shit , we've had them for a while ( two years ) . Not the sales success honda was hoping for.

I don't know that I've read anything to the effect that Honda was envisioning this bike to become a big seller. I get the impression that they built this bike more as a tribute to their past and simply because they can.

Import X amount of bikes ... they don't sell as many as imported ... not the sales success honda envisaged

Honda like all the rest could care less about tributes to the past ... they build bikes to sell. They build bikes to pull at peoples heart strings and emotional buttons or pander to an image ... and label them retro.

Don't get me wrong , I like the bike from a visual standpoint.

I'm not so sure. I've seen all the video footage of the engineers talking about this bike. It almost seems as if they successfully snuck one past the bean counters. Or, some of these engineers had some dirt on the head guys, and made some kind of deal. I admit that my theories on this are somewhat speculative.

Fair enough. I've been hoping someone from Australia might join in on this conversation. Trust me, as an owner of a Honda Hawk GT, I'm familiar with the story.

So have you any idea of just how many CB1100s has Honda imported there and how many have they sold to date? What would you have to pay for unsold 2011 or 2012 stock at nearby dealers now and what would they originally have sold for then?

Sooooo, what are you trying to say? I read the link, and it is for a 2011 cb1100 with an asking sales price of $12,490. A two year old bike selling for over the origional list price? Hardly a cut-and-run, just get me out from underneath this thing price.

Im not and I don't get it. So the bikes down under are more money..not breaking news. Everything down under is over priced.
