Has any one tried one of these waterproof bags that strap to your handle bars? I have just ordered one for £34, so I can use my car sat nav on my bike. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/WATERPROOF-CASE-AND-MOUNT-FOR-SAT-NAV-GPS-HOLDER-COVER_W0QQitemZ180438764569QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CE_GPS_Accessories_Software_ET?hash=item2a02fd0c19 Just wondered what I had let my self in for.
Has no one really ever tried these? It arrived today and looks great. As soon as I get my bike back I will install it and take it for a test ride, then report back. Wold be interested to hear from any one who has already tried this sort of thing.
I was thinking about a GIVI S850 GPS Universal holder, similar but requires a rain cover (included). I like your's better. Let us know how it goes. - Cheers, M. http://www.giviusa.com/Accessories-for-bikes-scooters/Accessories/S850
Well I have tried it out now, this is what I think. In the box: you get the bag with attached velcro straps, a finger pointer that fits over your glove to control your UPS through the clear view pannel, a sholder strap and an additional waterproof cover. Build:The construction of the bag is very good, looks and feels like it will last quite some time. The zips are good and strong with waterproof covering. Waterproof cover is like a mini wet suit. The Bag: It was very easy to attach to the bike, the velcro straps hold it on nice and tight, but not if it is just fixed to the thin cross bar (it will roate). There is plenty of room in the bag for your phone and some extra little bits. Unless you buy the optional battery. I have a 12v socket on my Uly so I do not need the battery. It looks good and will not look out of place on an adventure bike. Waterproof: The bag is sold as 100% water proof and so far I have no reason to doubt that. It also comes with an additional waterproof cover that fits nice and snug and does not inpare your vision of the GPS unit. Overall: I would buy this bag again as there are no real - points yet but loads of + points. It has not been very sunny here in Liverpool so I can not comment yet on how the visibility is in the sun shine (Sun shine! WHAT'S THAT!) If you already have a sat nav for your car and do not want to spend another £250 plus on a motorcycle one.... Then buy one of these, at £34 it can't be bad value.....
Looks like a product that I needed before I bought a Garmin Nuvi 500. Can you use the velcro straps to instead strap in on your arm, in a relatively stable position?
Oh yes. I forgot that part. It does fit quite nicely on your arm (as shown by the Pizza Delivery boy on the box). That could be quite a uesful idea.
