Afternoon all! I've been searching for the perfect used bike for the last 6 months and I've got to show for it are a lot of wild goose chases. I think I'm going to suck it up and buy something new. I'm really drawn to the BMW Sertao. There is a dealer in my area with a new 2013. Sticker should be around $8600 and it looks like there is $500 of dealer cash. I'm thinking about $8200 on the road sounds like a fairish price, this guy's trying to get full sticker. Are the bikes that rare or are they just jacking me around? I appreciate any feedback ahead of time! Thanks, Giff
Not sure what my buddy paid but it was close to sticker if not sticker, he got the last one at the dealership they wont be getting anymore for quite some time. if you like the bike id say screw it and get it before someone else does. You only live once.
I paid about $1,700 less than the sticker (mine had heated grips and another option that escapes me right now) that put the MSRP at $8,900 on my '13 but it was February and 5 degrees outside. Even with that much off, after taxes, destination and BS Doc fees I was over $8,200 OTD. I think the fact that it is a niche bike and it being peak riding/ bike buying season is going to hurt your negotiating power. There were one or two slightly used Sertao's listed in flea market at amazing prices recently if you can afford to pay in cash and have a few days to ride home. No affiliation. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=979001&highlight=sertao
Have you thought about a Husqvarna Terra ? Bought mine couple months ago for $6000 OTD and they are still available for this price. These are great bikes and compare very well with Sertao.Check them out.I sold my 1200gs and my TE610 and do not regret it.. Adrian
$5,000 used on Craigslist San Diego... 2012 Sertao in Good (not Great or Excellent) condition with 9,800 miles. All the maintenance was done by the local BMW dealer. It is pretty much a stock Sertao but it will be a good building block for future upgrades.
That seems steep (the OPs dealer) to me. I bought a slightly used (3k miles) '14 Sertao a dealer had on a trade in for $7k. A leftover new '13 Sertao recently sold for $7k near me, also.
