It is with many tears and the blessing of his family that I make this post... Dave Morrison aka Dr Cool was involved in a crash that took his life this past thursday morning July 5th. He had a collision with a deer on the cabot trail in Cape Breton. By the accounts of those with him at the time of the accident, it is highly likely that Dave went instantly and did not suffer. Dave touched our lives in many different ways and the one thing that is common throughout is that whatever Dave did, Dave did it with passion and an olympic level of sincerity... Daves first date with his wife Margaret was on a motorcycle. Margaret encourages us all to keep riding and to ride to the wake and funeral if we choose to. Motorcycling was a huge part of Daves family life that she doesn't want to deny, hide or forget. This one is gonna hurt for a long time.... MORRISON, David John – Suddenly, as result of a motorcycle accident, while riding the Cabot Trail in Nova Scotia with his friends, on Thursday, July 5, 2012 at the age of 47. Beloved husband and best friend of Margaret Vida-Morrison for 24 years. Loving and devoted father of Chynna and Shane. Much loved son of Joanne Morrison and the late John Morrison. Dear brother of Jennifer Monahan and her husband Mike, Christine Morrison, Katrina Morrison and brother-in-law of Joan Craftchick and her husband John. Cherished uncle to his niece Tiffany (Matt) and nephews Adloy and Sutherland. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends, and co-workers. David was a motorcycle enthusiast and took many bike trips across Canada and The States. He was VP of the Service Division with Branair Design Build Inc. Visitation at SMITH’S FUNERAL HOME, 1167 Guelph Line, (one stoplight north of the QEW), BURLINGTON, 905-632-3333 on Wednesday July 11, 2012 from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. where a Funeral Prayer Service will be held in the Chapel on Thursday July 12, 2012 at 1pm. Reception to follow. Cremation. In lieu of flowers, donations to a Trust Fund for Chynna and Shane would be sincerely appreciated by the family. ---UPDATE----- It is encouraged by dr cools family for anyone to ride to the wake and funeral if they choose to. With that comes the understanding that it is also expected that we will all be dressed in our regular motorcycle gear as if it were a regular Tuesday night....
Friends loosing a friend hurts A wife loosing a husband hurts for ever Children loosing a father should not happen Darren
Stay smiling my friend. You will be missed by all who met you. 1st Fall Colours Ride '08 I'll never forget this ride. I just started to get to know him this weekend. We were drinking from his keg and I asked him. Me: "Drcool, did you bring this keg?" David: "Fuck no that would be gay. I brought two." I laughed so hard beer came out of my nose.
I feel overwhelming sadness. We lost a great guy. Dave's good-humoured enthusiasm and adventuresome spirit will be truly missed. My thoughts are with Dave and his family at this difficult time. ~
Thanks for posting the notice. I saw the message on the GTA forum. I am sorry he lost his life.. I wish his family well in these difficult days. Respectfully Miltonhog.
I absolutely hate reading these postings. Bad news is never easy to deal with. I didn't know him but enjoyed reading his posts as a member of the ADV community at large. RIP Dr. Cool.
your generosity and infectious kindness has touched so many your light will shine forever in our hearts R.I.P. my friend
you may never get a chance in life to meet people like dave. i was so lucky to get that chance, and i will miss him greatly. he was a dear friend to me, and i looked forward every year to spend some quality time with him and margaret at the EOAR. what an absolutely beautiful couple. my heart goes out to margaret, i can't possibly imagine whats she's going through right now. i miss you buddy, i wish i got to say a proper goodbye
Please keep us posted on the trust fund as well. We need to really make an effort there. Sad, sad news.
There are 2 kinds of people in the world: Dave's friends, And the people He hadn't met yet. Godspeed drcool.
Its just so sad, our thoughts go out to Margaret and the jr. cools. Im also thinking of the guys that were riding with him, its had to be hard for them, Scott, Adam and the rest...take care. Dave was likely the first person I talked to as I got off my bike at my first fall colours tour and I knew right away he was one of those guys you couldnt help but like, great sense of humor, entertaining as hell to party with, great rider and just a good guy. Always looked forward to seeing him again, fall or EOAR runs, it wont be the same without him. He will be missed Todd
Always smiling...that's how I will remember Dave. He was a good friend and I feel very fortunate to have gotten to know him over the past few years. We shared many miles in the saddle, many pints bench racing and countless laughs and adventures. Dave, you will be missed but the good times we shared I will carry with me the rest of my life. I really feel like I have lost a brother. R.I.P my friend.
