The new revamped 2014 Toyota Tundra is making it's debut at the Chicago Auto show, 9 February. I know that many rumors are floating around the net, but would like opinions here. I will be replacing my 1997 T100 with the new Tundra.
I haven't read anything that I would consider reliable, but I'm hoping that they do something to address the abysmal fuel economy. It would be nice if Toyota joined other manufacturers and offered direct injection, etc. I'm halfway looking for an excuse to buy a new truck, but there's nothing on the market now that will make me take the plunge.

Yes, the Tundra gets dismal points for fuel economy, but am sure that it will be greatly improved with the new model. I didn't know that the Tundra doesn't offer the manual transmission. Rumors are of a possible 8 speed automatic.
My 2000 Tundra still cranks and runs. And it's long since been paid for. I like the new ones, would LOVE a new crew cab but do't have a spare $47,000 lying around.
Yes, those Toyota's are reliable. I bought my 1997 T100 new, and it now has 99000 miles, plowed snow for years, and never been in the repair shop, not even a burned out light. I believe that it is sold tomorrow, but we'll see. I doubt that a new Tundra will be that costly for me, since I just want the ExtraCab, 4WD, middle of the line trim. I'm thinking less than $40,000.
God, I hope that's not accurate. That's like a current-gen Tundra having prison sex with a Venza. Hideous.
Tacoma...yes. Tundra...no way. Fuel economy sucks as does resale. A Silverado is a much better truck for the money. GM is my favorite full size truck. Drove a 99 Silverado for 10 years, wreck it 3x, put 160k miles on it n still got $6,000 for it. I currently have an 09 Tacoma crew cab 6' bed and love it. Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using Tapatalk 2

MY 2000 Tundra has nearly 180,000 miles on it. My old 1991 Toyota truck had 240,000 on it when I traded it in for the Tundra. I priced the new ones a few years ago, when the new Crew Max cabs came out. To get one loaded was close to $50,000. I don't want one stripped down, I want it loaded! But it will be a LONG time before I can buy one.
Man, you had me worried there. I just built the truck I want on the Toyota website, but a 2013 model. For a Tundra Double Cab, 4WD, 6 speed automatic, tow package, heavy duty hitch, etc, came to just over $33,000. But I could have screwed up the "build your vehicle" process. At age 70, I'm not going to scrimp much, since this may be the last vehicle I buy. I'll probably end up paying close to $40,000, but hope well under that.

Those aren't base models; they have the TRD package and other goodies. As others have posted you can easily purchase a Crew Max Tundra for $33,000 and it will have plenty of amenities that trucks really don't need.
My 2008 Tundra has 162,000 miles on it now. Most recent break down was a $900 rear axle bearing. Surprise, surprise there was a TSB and redesign on that to. To date this truck has cost more than $12,000 in repairs and maintenance (includes 3 sets of tires). Recent trip over the weekend returned an awesome 12.8 MPG of ALL hwy driving. I am not anti Toyota, I just don't think they build a vehicle better than anyone else. My personal car is RAV4 only because I liked the V6 better than the turbo 4 in the RDX. The RAV4 has had its share of problems as well. 2 recalls and a water pump. First line in the manual to replace the water pump, "remove the engine". We a Camry that went to 310000 mile before being totaled by 300C. That car was pretty bullet proof.
