WOW! This is big fun, your report that is Somehow I've missed these extravaganzas so I've got a lot to look forward to, catching up on some of your past reports. Great job of capturing everything and finding a way to share it. (Darn you for that "Oh Hai..." link. CAN'T GET THAT OUT OF MY HEAD NOW.)

I love the Sand Flats area in Moab. Here's a trail map that shows the Porcupine Rim trail on page 2.
It's a good thing you took the fork back to the road, because after that the trail heads back west towards the Colorado River, and about 9 miles later the trail is closed to motorized vehicles and you'd have to turn back--it's an in and out trail.

Sand and rocks are where steering dampers really shine. I can't speak for all the different dampers on the market, but I have been happy with the Scotts Steering Stabilizer. The Scotts damper allows you to adjust both the low and high speed hits separately. Once you get it dialed in the way you like it, you'll never go back.
I find it allows me to have a slightly looser grip on the bars, this helps with arm pump and fatigue at the end of the day.

The Porcupine Rim is a tough act to follow.

It was wonderful. Cool and shady. Even had a couple sprinkles.







The La Sals were kind to us this time (last time we went through, it was a lot different...)

That was fun.
We were actually singing that song while we rode through the canyon.
Hearing it on the video is what gave us the idea for the soundtrack.

I guess it helps if you were a kid in the 70s...
