    Hey Matt,

Does that steering dampener help in the sand? What about the hard, rocky stuff?

Hey Lil'Wan....do you have velco on the seat and your pants? How the heck do you hang on?
And more kudos to "Super Wan" for being able to guide the school bus thru such terrain...geez.... :clap
Thanks for another super R/R......Got me riding the edge of my couch again, ha! :lurk

really enjoying the RR -- you crack me up with all the links and references, I think I learn more about pop culture from your RR's than anywhere else. :D

We'll be at chez-Q in a few days, did you enjoy the ADVentureMattress™? Muy comfy, no? Q told us you'd be there later in the summer, so we thought of you guys when we picked it up. It really ties the room together, don'tcha think?

It's gonna be great riding with BD & DW on M10. We're under orders to make sure they sign the shower curtain. I hope Tony swings by while we're there too. :evil

Congrats on your anniversary. :super LDF & I are together about the same amount of time, but we're still living in sin. Every time I propose she says she's holding out for better offers. :dunno

WOW! This is big fun, your report that is :thumb Somehow I've missed these extravaganzas so I've got a lot to look forward to, catching up on some of your past reports. Great job of capturing everything and finding a way to share it. (Darn you for that "Oh Hai..." link. CAN'T GET THAT OUT OF MY HEAD NOW.)

I love the Sand Flats area in Moab. Here's a trail map that shows the Porcupine Rim trail on page 2.
It's a good thing you took the fork back to the road, because after that the trail heads back west towards the Colorado River, and about 9 miles later the trail is closed to motorized vehicles and you'd have to turn back--it's an in and out trail. :lol3

Rock, I'll drop by for a quick hello/farewell combo, but you'll be busy as heck so I'll not hang.

    Now ... Mo' Wans!

    Hi JG,

Sand and rocks are where steering dampers really shine. I can't speak for all the different dampers on the market, but I have been happy with the Scotts Steering Stabilizer. The Scotts damper allows you to adjust both the low and high speed hits separately. Once you get it dialed in the way you like it, you'll never go back.
I find it allows me to have a slightly looser grip on the bars, this helps with arm pump and fatigue at the end of the day.

    Oh hai!

heh. Fun comments, you guys - good job! :thumb

And now, there's nowhere to go but down...
:cry there are some pretty good ones from canada, maybe idaho...
but nothing quite as crazy as the porcupine rim trail...

    Me too! :lol3
that part, and when he says, "can you do me a faaa-vor?"

    welcome, Oddball!
no, no - thank YOU for signing in.
This report would be nothing without you and the 12 other readers! :*sip*

Being a stump is good for something! Gravity helps...:D
But, I like your idea better..
    I want one of these!

    Hi, DR. Rock! :wave

haha, you mean you're learning about 80s pop culture and things that the kids liked 7 or 8 years ago.
BigWan and I are WAY out of the loop, but I'm glad you like the linkies.

Thank you so MUCH for the
ADVentureMattress™! I tried to post a photo in your RR, but then I broke the link.
    Here it is again:

We left a little something for the cava de aventura, too. :evil
    I'll give you a hint:

Have a kickass ride! We're jealous! :cry

    thanks Scott!
Oh yeah, make sure that you, BigDog, LDF and DR. Rock all pick up your ADVenturePotatoes™

    Hi Tony! thanks! :D
glad you're (still) enjoying the RR.

    Thanks HardWorkingDog!
those maps are great. That was a LONG 1.5 miles!
It was neat to see the trails at Slickrock, too.

Oh, you're tired of the "Oh Hai" song??

    Here you go...

    :lol3

    Glad I could help!

Hi Rob! yeah, we lucked into that one! couldn't have happened at a better time. :D

OK, I have like 80 photos for the rest of day 15 but I'm not getting shit done with all this waving and blabbering...

(not to sound grumpy about it! Thanks for the love, you guys :raabia)

    P.S.

Oh, okay. We thought maybe it was a statute of limitations thing...

    Sigh.
    I’'m not very focused today.
The Porcupine Rim is a tough act to follow.

    Oh yeah,
we'’re on Section 2 of the UTBDR:
I don'’t speak smartphone, but here’'s the video you can get if you do:
    section 2

Heading into the La Sal mountains.

This dirt might have been Norm'’s handiwork again...

It was wonderful. Cool and shady. Even had a couple sprinkles.

The La Sals were kind to us this time (last time we went through, it was a lot different...:arg)

    Kokopelli Trail

We stopped to admire the view. Had some snacks and water.

Beautiful, isn'’t it? I think the guy in the video said this is Castle Valley...

    I also enjoyed this squirrel.

Can you see him? So cute. I still love me some squirrels.

    Back on the trail...

    The landscape started to change...

So many different colors and crazy rock formations...

    Isn't this cool?

It was a fun little ride, totally unexpected (to us, since we suck at planning or paying attention to maps :rolleyes).

Okay, I’'m pretty sure we’'re going to get busted for copyright violation on this one,
so watch it while you can!!
    HD, you guys! :deal

    :lol3

    Haha.
    That was fun.
We were actually singing that song while we rode through the canyon.
Hearing it on the video is what gave us the idea for the soundtrack.

I guess it helps if you were a kid in the 70s...
or if you'’ve seen the Will Ferrell movie.

Oh, and we didn't really get lost, but it sounded like a better title than,
    Land of the Onions.
    :D

There were tons of little water crossings. The video just shows a small sample.

I made matt stop so I could turn around and take a photo of this sign...

Okay, back on the slab. :fitz

At least it was short lived.

Bye red rocks, bye water - hello flat desert.
We saw some pronghorn in here, but my pics are all blurry.

This section would be nasty in the rain.

We hit a couple muddy spots and they were SLICK. :eekers
Here'’s where we almost ate it (looking back at our tracks)

Happy to see some rocky bits again (traction :thumb)

Okay, I think I’m gonna leave you guys at this shack...

Don't worry. I'll be back. :nod

It's a beautiful day and I need to get out and enjoy it.
    You do, too!
Here's some reading material for inspiration.

    and some music...

"pepto bismal gabba gabba my wallet!"

Turn off that phone, put the computer to sleep and Go Play!
(hopefully, you've all already done that and I'm talking to crickets...)

For both You and Matt..:bow:bow:bow Holy Crap what an awesome job of riding and muscling that beast through there. I need to go ride that. I'll probably :p3rrya lot and break things but OH WELL.
