Hey there to everyone. I just wanted to introduce myself since I am new to this forum. My name is Chans and I live in Turlock California (Central Valley area). I currently am riding a Triumph Thruxton that recently (two days ago actually) had a hack put on it. Anyway, so I am sure I will be looking for ideas, answers, input, etc in the near future about things.

Oh yes, cant forget...........If there is anyone in the local area that would like to meet up and go for a spin on the bikes, let me know. It would be rad to meet up with some local riders.

Ok, here is a shot or two of the current set up.

    Cheers,
    Chans

That is the exact (almost) set-up I was going after. OregonThuxton (his name on other forum) has helped me out a TON with his great input, ideas etc. His rig is bad ass.........mine, well, I am still trying to work the kinks out so far.

    Thanks!

As for the steering, well, its heavy. I have never ridden a set up like this (sidecar in general) so I really dont know what to expect. My thruxton does have updated springs in front (not sure it matters but I would think it would help a bit??) and I flipped my clip ons (upside down and switched sides) This made the grips stick out straight compared to stock which was down at a steeper angle. Anway, I am sure there is GREAT room for improvement and I cant wait to get peoples ideas, etc on the set up.

Will do. Hopefully in a week or two (need some practice) I will feel a bit more comfortable on it and then will take the kid out for a nice ride.

Wider bars will make steering a lot lighter. 28 inches is a good start- you may need longer cables.

Chans ,welcome to the hacklife. If your steering is heavy and you don't want to deal with geometry changes right yet, think about flattrack bars. There are many differand bends out there. Choose one with a lot of pullback. This gives you leverage over the front wheel. The leverage helps alot, but it's not like having less trail.
I had a 900Z-1 powered rig in the 70's. I took a 200lb. guy for a ride and it wasn't hard to push fast enough to get the front wheel flapping as it searched for traction. Kinda neat, but a little scarry too. I settled for
    slowing down.:eek1

Thanks for the idea on the bars..........I am going to be looking into it really soon. I cant spend much money at the moment (kind of all went into the hack) so the budget way to go is best for me.

I will post up pictures of the changes when the arise.

How do you like your ride with sidecar now? Did it take you long to make the hack change from 2 wheels?

    Cheers!!

I have only had the set up now for a week or soo. I suspect it will take me a longgggggg while to get used to it. Going straight down the road isnt bad at all, but holy crap, making those turns is something I need some practice on! All in all, I am going to love it. Its great that my daughter will be able to go on trips with us now......oh, and she is stoked that I am going to take her to school and pick her up in the hack!

On that note, I already got a huge frown from one parent!! They gave me the "what are you thinking, having a child ride in that thing on a road with cars!" I just shook my head and kept going. Some people just dont get it!

    Enjoy your hack.
