That's still an air cooled OHC engine. Look closely at the valve covers. It's the same as the current GS with the spark plug cover coming upward from below. Interesting.
Thanks Tallguy-09 - that's a very nice looking bike. I agree with Hillybillypolack that it's the old engine. You can tell from the exhaust exiting from the front of the cylinder. The headlight and instrument cluster are off the current R1200R, but the tank looks different and I think that the bars are lower. It's got the current final drive, rather than the new model which is on the left hand side. And the mirrors have been swiped off the F800R. I'd be tempted, but I've got one of the new model R1200Rs, so I'm not sure if I'd upgrade for refreshed aesthetics. If it had the new motor...
Conventional forks, tank therefore moves forward since no upright spring in the front. I like the looks (but that awful air intake).
They aren't conventional forks at all and the radiators are either side at the front of the tank. If you look up the UK paper called motorcycle news there are some new clear shots of the new bike looking pretty much finished. Sorry I am on my phone at the moment so I can't provide a link.
Hmm, maybe the new r1250r will have conventional forks (not telelever) and they're testing them out on the existing chassis. The latest pictures of the r1250GS make it look pretty light. Maybe BMW will surprise us and make it lighter than the current bike. Obviously pictures are not the best way to judge weight though. g-
Nothing new to see here, so move along folks. Even this vid is 6 months old.... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/EsXZVerdx_E" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

I'm not going to like having the big bag on the left side! often when I run into the store to get supplies(aka hoppy ales) I put her on the sidestand & throw my helmet in the right side full size panier. On return I take out the brain bucket & install tasty supplies. It would be awkward to do that on the left side
I made a little translation of the article hope it helps: BMW offensive is going ahead For this year BMW's modelprogramm hasn't changed much. This is what we could say if we only look at the motorcycle section. The C600 sport and C650GT had bound the capacity of development and industrialization of "real motorcycles" and for that reason new motorcycles couldn't appear in 2012. After the newest Spyshot from MOTORRAD-Paparazzo one thing is clear: this will change during next and the comming years - and that drastically. 4 New models went infront of his camera and with them at least 2 models that will be modified (F800GS and F650GS). These fotos will be releaved in our magasine of the 4/2012 [...] One of these models is the replacement of the R1200GS with the first watercolled engine, which presentation we are waiting for (expecting) during the next intermot. Then they are talking about a new electro scooter blabla. And that they could reveal a half-naked S1000RR. The exhaust of the 1250GS is oval (making it small) so that the footpegs of the 2nd rider will be fitting like the current model on the outside. But this of course on the other side, which is why the new cardan (final drive) is on the other side too. They say that they have put a lot of plastic and colors everywhere to confuse people about the final disign and that changes are still probable. They also doubt that the engine guards will look like that because they are very wide and very outside the bike. Hope my translation wasn't too bad and that this can help some of you ).
