anyone found any aftermarket exhaust for the DR?

Kientech will modify the stocker I think. No aftermarket for it. No need for one either, you wouldn't get much power gain and an obnoxiously loud DR200 wouldn't make much sense:)

Did any of you put a bash plate on your DR-200?

When we had one, we would have, but had trouble finding one. We then sold the bike so it is merely an academic Q now.

Got a Djebel 200 (suspected 1997 model) for my wife recently.

Now she waits for her appointment to get her learners (She has to travel 130km one way to get an appoinmtment within three weeks. Local traffic department: Come back in five months.

And they wonder why the youngsters ride without license.

In the meantime I am busy with getting the little thing into shape.
With most of my dirt experience being from messing around with DR650SE, KLR650 A and C and Baghiras I was amazed how sure footed and easy the little DR is.
It climbs up the steepest slopes as if they aren't there. Deep sandpits that require concentration and a bit of bravery when negotiated on a 650 are a laugh on the little 200.

After half an hour on the 200 I was doing things I would consider twice before an attempt on a 650.
I even managed to put the thing into wild slides on the hardpacked gravel car park of the tennis club opposite my shop

As soon as license issues are resolved we will go on a nice trip down the Grear Bergriver to St. Helena Bay. All on farm roads and trying to avoid tarmac whereever possible.

IMHO the bike is a great bike for a beginner, it's a cheap commuter and it's still a lot of fun to ride for someone like me with 20years+ of riding experience. Just stay away from freeways!

Only negative so far is non existent dealer support here in Cape Town. The Djebel was a grey import. Luckily (I thought) it shares the engine and most other components with the DR200SE:
Tried to get the valve clearance settings from the local workshop just to find out they don't know although the DR200SE is an officially imported model and they have even sold a few already :eek1

Next step: Organize Suzuki workshop manual.

That issue has been on my mind for some time. After I clear my peak season (May to mid July) at work I'm going to make one. Thinking of something closer to a spray/mudguard as opposed to a heavy duty bash plate. Will go with either 3/32"-1/8" aluminum or fiberglass.



I also found the 200 with the OEM final to be an excellent performer in tight technical gnarly offroad stuff.

Is that an OEM supplied tire? How old do you think it is. Sort of looks like it might have been an old tire at time of fitting. What kind of pressures do you run?

My OEM's (97) are just about worn out (tread) and the is some sidewall and base of lug checking. That's the dilemma I now have; what tires to choose.

Australia has a "Farm" DR200 called the Trojan that has a rear and front rack, mud flaps front and rear, two kick stands (L & R), hand guards, skid plate. Haven't found out how (or how much$) the items would be.

Did you guys notice the kickstart! Now we know where to source those parts. All that we need now is for one of you Aussies to guide us to an Australian online parts source/fiche and we'll have something.

i wish we had so many sub 500cc dualsport options here in the states

is that trojan factory?
if so we should be able order parts by part #
just need to find a parts catalogue

It is pure Suzuki in Australia.

I've looked for parts for sale on-line like some of the US dealers have, but have been unable to locate a website that shows parts for sale in Australia.

this is the little mrs. dr200 and she loves it
i've been looking at the trojans at my local dealer and they can't be road registered which is a huge pain in the ass ....
the aussie government wont allow the dr200 to be road registered any more so it looks like the little 96 will have to do for a while

i'm off riding for the weekend so next week i will go to the dealer and get some prices for the racks and bash plate

i cant find any one who makes them so i was wondering if one off another model might fit???

I just purchased a stock 98 DR200 and would like to change the stock tires to a larger off road type. Any recomendations on size and tire options.

Why on earth do you need more than 3.4 gallons on a bike that gets almost 100mpg? That's more range than most big dirtbikes with 7 gallon tanks.
