This was exactly my impression when I tried to get a few extra miles out of the OEM front tire. Replace the tire, steering feel will return to normal. Just in case you want to check for a detent in the steering head bearing, put the front tire on a piece or two of slippery plastic to decrease the friction between the tire and the ground, and turn the bars slowly lock-to-lock. You'll feel a detent if there is on. Found one on my KLR this way. Lex
some grifter once suggested I should hang out here some as you guys could use a little female influence. seeing as I can't help with any of the mechanical, here's my contribution.. a little RR on what me and Bezzy have been up to.. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=701897
+1 The rear shock comes from the factory with 5W (pretty light for my fat, bacon-cheese-burger-eating arse). I was able to improve the stock forks by mixing my own fork oil: 10W (stock) was too soft, 15W felt too harsh, but a mix of 10W & 15W made a nice (but not too drastic) improvement, along with .50Kg/mm springs.
Great suggestion. 2 trash bags should be perfect. Thanks. Still think it's the tire but won't know till I get a chance to change it.
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=230241 Thats an extreme and I have no idea how much pressure he put on it. http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=521442 Seems to be happy with them.
Hey Guys, Went to this place today I also found some of these Are these the ones that will work on the DR? One more pic Thanks for any input. There are about 7 or 8 of them.
The coveted one is the x40F0x titanium muffler. https://docs.google.com/a/mxrob.com/present/view?ndplr=1&id=djwd44j_68fdsm79hf The x24F0x seems to be a Hayabusa muffler.
Ummm no pm's from me. His pic says 24FO but everyone wants (myself included) the 40FO titanium ones...
Let me know what the difference is, so when I go back Thurs. I can tell whats what? Thanks Going riding and will check back in a couple hours.
Well, in trying to save myself some work I made myself twice as much... Decided I was going to polish the header pipe tonight. Well, being the smart guy I am I decided "Wire wheel? F#*@ that!" I got a glass beader! If you decide to polish your header pipe DON'T glass bead it! The finish it leaves will now take me 2 days to sand out. Yeh, I had all the paint stripped off in 3 min flat...but I see A LOT of sanding in my future!
Anyone interested in buying one of these sweet new petcocks I'm fabricating? Only 129.99, crudely cobbled together from stuff I found at a Lowe's. In all seriousness though, I had to share this when I saw it. Thought we only saw stuff like this on KLRs If it keeps you riding though, more power to ya (perhaps not literally though).
I'll add, the wanted info is on slide 3 of this link. Look in the lower left hand corner of the page and wait for it to load. If clicking on the arrow doesn't change the slide; wait, it's still loading. BTDT
Hello everyone, I've been browsing through this thread, tons of good info. I'm currently in the market for a DR. I found one with less than a thousand miles on it. it's a black 2007. The guy put on a suzuki skid plate, a suzuki gel foam seat, and one of those wide racks that you could get off ebay for a while. looks like the guy bought it and never rode it. anyways, i'm curious what a fair price for it would be? it's located in the midwest. I want to jump on it cuz its nice and you don't see many for sale around here. But i also don't want to over pay. Any input is appreciated. Dave
